RHEA Dining: Where Brunch Transcends Trends in Bukit Damansara

June 18, 2025 by StrawberrY Gal

In a city where brunch has become a buzzword, and cafés race to keep up with fleeting trends, RHEA Dining offers something quietly revolutionary. Tucked discreetly on the ground floor of Menara Milenium in Bukit Damansara, this thoughtfully curated space defies the noise—not by shouting louder, but by speaking with soul. At RHEA, brunch isn’t just a weekend ritual. It’s a refined, expressive experience that honours ingredients, textures, and culinary stories.

The space is calm, polished, and unpretentious—mirroring the philosophy behind the food. Warm lighting spills across terrazzo tables, while dark accents and minimalist design lend a sense of composed elegance. It’s the kind of place where conversations feel unhurried and plates are meant to be appreciated, not just photographed. Behind the scenes, a quietly passionate team works with an almost meditative intensity.

Smashed Avocado Croissant

Start with RHEA’s now-signature Smashed Avocado Croissant. It sounds familiar—until it arrives at the table. The buttery, golden croissant is anything but ordinary, crisp outside and tender within. It cradles a luscious spread of smashed guacamole, brightened by salsa and crowned with a perfect 4-minute egg whose yolk gleams like morning sunshine. The final flourish? A swirl of crispy chili oil, fragrant and fiery, tying together the creamy, crunchy, cool, and warm components in one unforgettable bite. This isn’t just a riff on avo toast—it’s a statement.

Spicy Arrabiata

The Spicy Arrabiata may sound like an Italian staple, but RHEA’s rendition carries more emotional weight. The penne is robust, the sauce patient. A slow-simmered tomato fondue delivers deep umami, enriched by the subtle heat of fresh chili and the complexity of roasted capsicums. Black olives add a briny bite, while a shower of parmesan lends savoury comfort without dulling the brightness. It’s a dish that understands contrast—fiery yet grounding, nostalgic yet unexpected.

Duck & Waffle

Then there’s Big Ben, RHEA’s elegant play on Duck & Waffle. Here, a fork-tender duck confit, slow-cooked until its fibres surrender, rests atop a crisp, golden waffle. It’s served with a glossy sunny-side-up egg and a clever drizzle of mustard maple syrup, the kind of touch that lingers sweetly on the palate. The result is a symphony of textures and flavours: savoury, sticky, crisp, and comforting—a dish that feels at once indulgent and familiar, yet undeniably elevated.

Scotched Egg with Budu Chicken

Perhaps the most expressive dish on the menu is the Scotched Egg with Budu Chicken—a creation that feels deeply Malaysian yet ingeniously global. The soft-boiled egg is wrapped in a layer of minced chicken seasoned with budu, a fermented anchovy sauce beloved on Malaysia’s east coast. It’s then delicately fried and presented on a bed of sautéed mushrooms, fried shallots, zesty lime, and slivers of winged bean. It’s earthy, tangy, bold, and unapologetically local. A rare example of culinary confidence, this is storytelling on a plate.

Dining at RHEA is a study in restraint and intention. It’s about the details—the precise doneness of an egg, the quiet heat of chili oil, the soft crunch of a winged bean. Nothing is added without purpose. And yet, the experience never feels stiff or cerebral. It’s soulful, engaging, and quietly luxurious.RHEA invites a slower appreciation—a moment to reconnect with food that’s been thought through, cooked with heart, and meant to be remembered long after the last bite.

For those who seek more than just an aesthetically pleasing plate—for diners who believe food should nourish the senses and stir the soul—RHEA Dining is more than worth the visit. It is, quite simply, one of Kuala Lumpur’s most intelligent brunch experiences.
