A Refined Lunar New Year Celebration at Yun House, Four Seasons Hotel Kuala Lumpur

 Chinese New Year at Yun House, Four Seasons Hotel Kuala Lumpur, is a study in elegance, restraint and culinary precision. Renowned for its Michelin-recognised Cantonese cuisine, the restaurant ushers in the Year of the Horse with thoughtfully curated set menus that honour tradition while embracing contemporary refinement.

Helmed by Executive Chinese Chef Jimmy Wong, Yun House’s festive offerings focus on premium ingredients, classical techniques and harmonious pacing — creating a dining experience that feels celebratory yet composed, ideal for family reunions and corporate entertaining alike.

An Auspicious Beginning

The meal opens with Yun House’s signature interpretation of yee sang — Smoked Salmon with Black Truffle Yee Sang. Freshly shaved black truffle adds an unmistakable layer of luxury, elevating the dish beyond symbolism into something deeply aromatic and indulgent. The balance between the gentle smokiness of the salmon and the earthiness of truffle sets an elegant tone for the courses that follow, symbolising abundance and prosperity for the year ahead.

A Showcase of Cantonese Craftsmanship

Next arrives the Four Seasons Combination Platter, a refined quartet that highlights Yun House’s technical finesse. Crispy Roasted London Duck with Herbal Essence offers depth and fragrance, while Crispy Beancurd Rolls with Shrimp Paste in Spicy Scallop Sauce bring texture and umami richness. Together, the platter delivers contrast and balance — crisp, savoury and delicately seasoned.

The menu then transitions into nourishment with the Premium Abalone Soup with Matsutake Mushrooms in Fish Broth. Clear yet deeply flavoured, the broth showcases the essence of slow cooking, allowing the natural sweetness of abalone and the earthy aroma of matsutake to shine without excess.

Seafood Elegance, Steamed to Perfection

A highlight of the set is the Steamed Grouper Fillet with Preserved Vegetable, Dried Shrimp and Luffa Melon. Prepared with restraint, the grouper is tender and pristine, complemented by the savoury depth of preserved vegetables and dried shrimp. The addition of luffa melon introduces lightness, keeping the dish fresh and well-balanced — a hallmark of refined Cantonese cooking.

Following this is the comforting yet luxurious Braised Rice Vermicelli with Crab Meat and Ginger Onion. Silky rice vermicelli absorbs the sweet richness of crab meat, while ginger and onion lend warmth and aroma. It is a dish that bridges sophistication with familiarity, grounding the meal before dessert.

A Poetic Sweet Finale

Dessert at Yun House is never an afterthought. The experience concludes with “Twice as Nice”, a dual presentation that pairs Butternut Pumpkin Purée with Nostoc Pearls and Deep-Fried Rice Cake with Sweet Potato and Yam. The pumpkin purée is smooth and gently sweet, while the deep-fried rice cake offers contrast in texture — crisp on the outside, soft within. Together, they create a graceful, symbolic ending that reflects harmony and prosperity.

An Elevated Festive Experience

Yun House’s Chinese New Year menus are available from 15 January to 3 March 2026, for both lunch and dinner. Guests may choose from three carefully composed set menus, each reflecting a different level of festivity and indulgence:

• Majestic — MYR 588 per person (minimum 4 guests)

• Auspicious — MYR 888 per person (minimum 4 guests)

• Fortuity — MYR 1,388 per person (minimum 4 guests)

A vegetarian menu is also available at MYR 338 per person, ensuring inclusivity without compromise.
