A Grand Lunar New Year Feast — At the Table and at Home — with Grand Imperial Group

January 26, 2026 by StrawberrY Gal

As the Lunar New Year approaches, few traditions carry more meaning than the reunion meal. It is a time when families gather, businesses reconnect, and auspicious dishes are shared to usher in prosperity and harmony for the year ahead.

For the 2026 Year of the Horse, Grand Imperial Restaurant Group (喜粤饮食集团) presents a comprehensive festive culinary offering — from an opulent dine-in banquet to thoughtfully prepared takeaway specialities — allowing celebrations to unfold both at the round table and in the comfort of home.

The Signature Reunion Banquet: A Celebration of Cantonese Prestige

At the heart of Grand Imperial’s festive programme is the “Success Gallops Forward · Abundance Fills the Universe” banquet, priced at RM2,288++ for 10 persons. Designed with balance and symbolism in mind, the menu highlights premium ingredients, refined Cantonese techniques, and measured pacing — ideal for both family reunion dinners and corporate festive gatherings.

The banquet opens with Shredded Mixed Fruits and Vegetables Yee Sang with Tiger Prawn Wrapped in Ham(麻酱培根虎虾锦绣齐齐捞), a vibrant and generous toss that sets the celebratory tone. The sweetness of tiger prawns and the fragrance of sesame dressing bring richness without heaviness, inviting diners to toss for success and abundance.

A refined sense of nourishment follows with Double-Boiled Golden Coin Shark’s Fin with Black Garlic, Matsutake Mushroom and Chinese Cabbage(琥珀蒜珍菌炖金勾翅), served individually. The broth is clear yet deeply layered, offering comfort, elegance and restorative warmth.

The arrival of Roasted Whole Suckling Pig with Chilled Ice Plant(富贵乳猪全体伴西施汁冰蔬) marks a moment of visual grandeur. Crackling skin gives way to tender meat, paired with refreshing greens to balance richness — a ceremonial centrepiece befitting the festive table.

Seafood courses continue with Steamed Whole Dragon Tiger Grouper with Minced Garlic and Glass Vermicelli(银丝金银蒜蒸原条龙虎斑), symbolising abundance year after year. Steamed with restraint, the fish retains its natural sweetness, enhanced subtly by garlic and vermicelli.

A true highlight follows in Stewed Whole 10-Head Abalone with Homemade Beancurd and Prosperity Greens(原粒十头鲍鱼发财碧绿金砖). Each diner is served a whole premium abalone, slow-cooked until tender, rich and deeply satisfying — a powerful symbol of wealth and success.

The savoury courses conclude with Steamed Rice with Chinese Waxed Meats in Casserole(春节北风腊味大煲饭), aromatic and comforting, before dessert gently closes the meal with Double-Boiled Peach Gum with Snow Fungus and Mandarin Orange Peel(新会陈皮雪花菌炖桃胶) and Steamed Nian Gao with Shredded Coconut accompanied by Baked Lotus Pastry with Sesame(椰丝蒸年糕伴金蓉彩麻酥), ending the feast on a sweet, meaningful note.

Festive Takeaway: Bringing the Celebration Home
