BIJAN LAUNCHES “MAKAN BERHIDANG” SET MENUS

March 2, 2026 by StrawberrY Gal

 The most meaningful meals are rarely served as individual plates. At Bijan Bar & Restaurant (“Bijan”), the season is marked with Makan Berhidang, a series of set menus served in the traditional Malay style of sharing dishes around the table. During a time of reflection and community, these menus are gateways to nostalgia, conversation, and new memories.

Designed for communal dining, the Makan Berhidang set menus are created for four persons and presented as a complete meal to be enjoyed collectively. The approach reflects how Malay meals have long been shared after a day of fasting, where balance and togetherness matter as much as abundance.

At the heart of Makan Berhidang is a dining philosophy guided by four essential elements: Dry, Wet, Spicy and Fresh. When these elements come together, the meal feels complete and satisfying, without any single dish dominating the table. This balance allows flavours, textures and temperatures to complement one another naturally.

This philosophy has long shaped the way food is prepared and served at Bijan. Dishes are curated to work in harmony, where richness is balanced with freshness, spice is offset by lighter elements, and gravies are meant to be enjoyed with rice, staying true to the traditions of Malay dining.

Located on Jalan Ceylon in Kuala Lumpur, Bijan has been recognised for over 20 years presenting traditional Malay cuisine within a refined dining setting.

“With Makan Berhidang, we wanted to return to a way of dining that feels complete without being excessive, where the table is meant to be shared and the food naturally finds its balance.” said a representative of Bijan.

Set Menus at Bijan

As part of the Makan Berhidang offering, Bijan presents three set menus, each designed for four persons and served in a shared, berhidang-style format. The Makan Berhidang set menus are available for a limited time from 20th February until 20th March 2026, served daily from 6:30 PM to 10:00 PM.

• Santapan Kenduri Bijan | RM390++

A comforting family-style spread featuring classic Malay appetisers, laksam, grilled meats, rich gulai, sambal-based dishes, fresh kerabu, a choice of rice and traditional Malay desserts.

• Santapan Warisan Bijan | RM590++

A heritage-focused menu highlighting sup kambing, grilled seabass with traditional condiments, slow-cooked meats, masak lemak, fresh greens, rice and classic desserts.

• Santapan Istana Bijan | RM790++

A refined celebratory set featuring sup ekor, Wagyu grill, premium seafood, masak lemak udang galah, sambal-led dishes, fresh elements, rice and an elevated dessert selection.

Diners who make advance bookings between 10th and 19th February 2026 can enjoy early bird rates across all three Makan Berhidang set menus, with Santapan Kenduri Bijan priced at RM360++, Santapan Warisan Bijan at RM560++, and Santapan Istana Bijan at RM760++, each designed for four persons and served in a shared, berhidang-style format.
