A Heritage on Every Plate: The A’la Carte Buffet Experience from RM 25 at Anak Baba

May 16, 2025 by StrawberrY Gal

In the heart of Kuala Lumpur lies a hidden culinary gem that quietly commands the respect of food lovers, critics, and heritage enthusiasts alike. Anak Baba, a restaurant steeped in the soulful richness of Peranakan tradition, has consistently proven that food is more than just sustenance—it is a story, a legacy, a tribute to generations past. And now, with its Michelin recognition for three consecutive years (2023, 2024, and 2025), Anak Baba is proudly taking things a step further with a dining experience that is as generous as it is heartfelt: the A’la Carte Buffet.

At just RM50 nett for adults and RM25 nett for children under 12, this buffet breaks all the conventions of the usual “pile-it-on” buffet spread.

Flavours That Speak of Time and Tradition

The menu at Anak Baba’s A’la Carte Buffet reads like a culinary love letter to Nyonya kitchens of old. There’s the unmistakable warmth of Nyonya Kari Ayam, its coconut-rich gravy hugging tender pieces of chicken, and the deeply comforting Ayam Pong Teh, slow-cooked in a fermented bean paste that tastes of memory and patience. The crispy edges of Ayam Goreng Kunyit sing with turmeric and spice, while the vibrant red of Ayam Serai-Serai hints at the fragrant lemongrass within.

Seafood lovers are not forgotten. Dishes like Sambal Udang, Udang Masak Nanas, and Udang Goreng Cili Garam bring a dynamic medley of heat, tang, and sweetness to the table. Each bite reminds you why Malaysian sambal is in a league of its own.

No Peranakan feast is complete without the gentle crunch of Pai Tee and the delicate rolls of Popiah Kulit Telur, both of which offer lighter but flavour-packed interludes between heavier mains.

And to finish? A bowl of Cendol Gula Melaka, cold and creamy, topped with thick palm sugar syrup—a dessert that tastes like heritage in a spoonful.

Book the Experience

This delightful buffet is available exclusively through FunNow (https://tinyurl.com/4x3zn33z ) , ensuring a seamless reservation experience. Whether you’re gathering with family, catching up with friends, or simply treating yourself to an immersive cultural meal, the A’la Carte Buffet at Anak Baba is a dining experience not to be missed.
