Auspicious Dining for Chinese New Year at Shang Palace, Shangri-La Hotel, Kuala Lumpur

Chinese New Year specialities and prosperity set menus are in place at Shang Palace, Shangri-La Hotel, Kuala Lumpur to welcome the Year of the Rooster on 28 January 2017.

Get an early start to ensuring prosperity, good fortune and happiness with a celebratory lunch or dinner at Shang Palace from 2 January to 11 February 2017.

Six types of Yee Sang and five set menus for four to 10 persons will be prepared by Executive Chinese Chef Tan Kim Weng and his team.

There is an a la carte menu filled with auspicious dishes such as Poon Choy or braised premium assorted hot dish served in a claypot, braised bird’s nest soup with lobster meat and seafood, wok-fried freshwater king prawns with salted egg yolk sauce, braised sea cucumber with golden garlic and leeks, steamed garoupa with preserved vegetables in soya sauce and Shang Palace’s marinated crispy pipa chicken, among others.

Five Prosperity Set Menus
There are also five prosperity set menus of eight or nine courses: Great Prosperity Set Menu at RM208 nett per person, Rich Fortune Set Menu at RM372 nett per person, Happy Reunion Set Menu at RM2076 nett per table of 10 persons, Wealth Treasures Set Menu at RM3484 nett per table of 10 persons and Immense Wealth Set Menu at RM5467 nett per table of 10 persons.

All the set menus begin with Yee Sang and end with a combination of Steamed Traditional Ninko with shredded coconut and chilled red bean cake.

Six Varieties of Yee Sang
Six varieties of Yee Sang can be ordered a la carte for dine-in or takeaway from 2 January to 11 February 2017. These are (for small portions): Korean snow pear Yee Sang at RM91 nett, crispy fish skin and jellyfish flower Yee Sang at RM91 nett, salmon fish Yee Sang at RM126 nett, crispy soft shell crab Yee Sang at RM138 nett, sliced abalone Yee Sang at RM173 nett and tempura lobster meat Yee Sang at RM231 nett.


Ninko
Three types of Ninko are available for takeaway or dine-in at Shang Palace from 2 to 27 January 2017.

These include the fish shaped prosperity coconut Ninko (RM68 nett), round two-layer Ninko in traditional and osmanthus flavours (RM58 nett) and round traditional brown sugar Ninko with walnuts (RM58 nett).
