THE RITZ-CARLTON, HONG KONG PRESENTS PIERRE HERMÉ PARIS SATINE AFTERNOON TEA

July 31, 2015 by StrawberrY Gal

This summer, The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong delights dessert aficionados with Pierre Hermé Paris’ exclusive Satine Afternoon Tea. Available at Café 103 from August 3 to 31, the afternoon tea showcases a delicious array of sweet and savory treats inspired by Pierre Hermé’s famed Fetish Satine.

One of Maison Pierre Hermé Paris’ signature creations, Fetish Satine is a collection of pastries that combine passion fruit, orange and cream cheese. Evoking the warm scent of summer, the refreshing tangy aromas of the fruits are enhanced with the addition of cream cheese. By blending the three ingredients, Pierre Hermé has struck a perfect balance between sweet and sour.

For the first time in Hong Kong, guests will have the chance to sample six different desserts from the Satine collection, including the Chou Satine, created with a passion fruit crumble, orange marmalade, passion fruit and cream cheese mascarpone with crunchy shortbread pastry. Other highlights include the Emotion Satine – featuring passion fruit compote, seasoned orange pieces, with cream cheese and shortbread pastry – or the Cake Satine, a reinterpretation of the classic pound cake, enlivened with orange zest and the aromas of passion fruit.

Complementing these delicious treats, Peter Find, The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong’s Executive Chef, has also designed three savory snacks. The light and smooth lemon curd enlivens the flavorful homemade smoked salmon with a well-balanced dose of freshness, making every bite of Dark Rye Bread Sandwich with Smoked Salmon as enjoyable as the first. Creamy and appetizing, the crab and prawn mousse in Carrot Bread Swiss Roll with Seafood Mousse and Crab Roe echoes harmoniously with the savory crab roe while creating an interesting contrast in texture. The orange juice and orange zest adds a hint of tanginess to the egg salad, enhancing the overall flavor profile of Brown Bread Sandwich with Orange Egg Salad. For full menu, please refer to the appendix.

To complete the experience, guests can pair the tantalising treats with Pierre Hermé’s custom-blended Satine tea, flavoured with aromatic passion fruit and orange essence.
