STRAITS FOOD COMPANY @ BANGSAR

December 29, 2014 by StrawberrY Gal

THE STRAITS COMPANY
Brand new fuss-free Peranakan restaurant, Straits Food Company brings you with some Malaysian fare. Located at the corner lot of Bangsar Utama’s back lanes. Operated by the owner of the famous Baba Low’s 486 and some new partners, Straits Food Company brings you with the old style coffee shop style.

THE STRAITS COMPANY
Straits Food Company tagline – ‘Food For All,’ ‘Makan First, Talk Later” is something we love about it. So, now is time for food.
THE STRAITS COMPANY
Started with Pai Tee (RM 5.50), the traditional peranakan snack where the “Top Hat” packet packed with the chopped vegetables, egg strips, and fried shallots. The traditional peranakan dishes is best enjoyed with the homemade vineger chili dip (cili cuka). I love the pai tee so much where it brings you with the fresh munch and crispy temptations.
THE STRAITS COMPANY
Another would be the Popiah Peranakan (RM 4.50) where the peranakan spring rolls with the turnip stuffing, fresh coriander fried shallots, bean sprouts, egg strips, cucumber and dash of gula melaka, sweet sauce, garlic and grounded chili. The popiah wrap is made daily which assured on the freshness of the delights.
THE STRAITS COMPANY
One of the signature here is the Nyonya Laksa (RM 7.00) where the traditional Malaccan Nyonya Laksa is served with a choice of noodles in the spicy gravy with a touch of coconut milk and chopped cucumber, bean sprout, shrimp, cockles, fishballs, and egg. The creamy broth with the light spiciness is just as good as it is and I would give double thumbs up on it.
THE STRAITS COMPANY
As for the mee siam ( RM 6.00); the noodles salad of spice-fried bihun is being served with cucumber , egg, fish cakes, shallots and a twist of freshly cut lime. It is well stir fried till perfection with the moist texture. Topped with it is their homemade tamarind dressing.
THE STRAITS COMPANY
For those who prefer some rice, try their Nasi Lemak (RM 6.00) where the traditional Malaccan nasi lemak is being served with the anchovies, groundnuts, egg, cucumber, and kangkung air. Together with it is their homemade sambal. For those who prefer some add –on, opt for the one with their signature ayam kunyit on top at RM 12.50.
THE STRAITS COMPANY
Mee Goreng Sejuk comes to our surprise which is another good one to try off. The nyonya style of fried yellow noodles is served with sambal and a twist of lime. It is such perfect dining for an afternoon pickup.

THE STRAITS COMPANY
For some spicy blend, try thier sambal prawn (RM 8.00) where the awesomely done sambal prawwn is well cooked till perfectionist with the blend of spiciness in it. I love the spicy bites of the sambal which comes awesomely good. Just make me wanted to order a bowl of rice to accompany it.
Not to be missed also some of the Malacca signature delights which is the Ayam Pong The (RM 7.00). The Malaccan nyonya sweet and savory chicken stew comes with the flavourful delights and also the tender juicy meat. Nice one!

THE STRAITS COMPANY
As for the Ikan Goreng Chili Belachan (RM 7.00) ,the fried fish is well done with the spicy chili toppings.
THE STRAITS COMPANY
We ended of course with the signature temptations which is their chendol (RM 4.50). The chendol is well made with the fragrant dark green pandan chendol and it is swerved with the smooth fine shaved ice. Topped on top with the flavourful fresh coconut milk and gula Melaka. Nice!
