PROSPERITY BECKONS AT SUNWAY PUTRA HOTEL, KUALA LUMPUR

January 24, 2014 by StrawberrY Gal

Welcome the arrival of the Year of the Horse on a symbolic note at Coffee House, Sunway Putra Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. The culinary team has prepared a lavish selection of festive dishes that are not only delectable but with names symbolic to ‘all things good’ for your Lunar New Year celebration. The Chinese New Year Reunion Buffet Dinner is available on 30 January 2014 and priced at RM80.00++ (adult) and RM40.00++ (child).

Gather your family, loved ones and friends this Lunar New Year and have a buffet-style feast. Let us do the cooking as you enjoy spending quality time and relishing dishes upon dishes of auspicious festive fares. For the reunion dinner, regarded as the most important meal, there are over eighty (80) dishes ranging from tempting appetizers to satisfying main courses and delightful desserts. Many of the dishes use ingredients that carry auspicious connotations to ensure a promising year ahead, such as prawns (laughter), fish (abundance), oysters (good news), noodles (long life) and fatt choy (seamoss – prosperity).

For starters, there are Prawn and Scallop Salad with Honeydew, Mandarin Orange Chicken Salad with Sesame, Crabmeat Rolls, Assorted Cold Cuts, Smoked Chicken Breast with Peaches, Marinated Jellyfish, Imperial Peking Duck Rolls and Assorted Seafood on Ice comprising tiger prawns, oysters, slipper lobsters, crabs, mussels and scallops.

Be sure to make a stop at the dedicated Yee Sang stall where you may choose your favourite ingredients for your toss of prosperity or we may also serve the Yee Sang at your table.

Next, savour a bowl or two of heart-warming soups comprising Fatt Choy Seafood Dumpling Soup or Double-boiled Ginger Cod Fish Soup before venturing into a splendid spread of main courses. Delight in delectable dishes such as Steamed Red Garoupa with Abalone Sauce, Stir-fried Leek with Shredded Roast Duck, Fried Crabs with Crushed Peppercorns, Salt-baked Chicken with Dong Gui and Wolfberries, Deep-fried Crab Claws and Grilled Chicken with Avocado. The list goes on with Half Shell Scallops with Szechuan Sauce, Steamed Fish Fillet with Pickled Bean Paste Sauce, Braised Dried Oysters with Sea Cucumber, Mushrooms and Fatt Choy as well as Sautéed Prawns on Crispy Oats in Basket. Fancy something different? Take a pick on the Chicken Char Siew Mini Pizza, Lemongrass Prawns and the Kailan with Truffle Oil.

For carbo fill, dig into Stir-fried Mee Sua with Seafood, Braised Noodles with Fatt Choy and Clams, Yong Chow Fried Rice and Steamed Fragrant Fried Rice with Yam in Lotus Leaves.

A steamboat (hot pot) counter, featuring a wide selection of meats, seafood, vegetables, bean curd and noodles, accompanied by flavourful chicken soup will be set up and guests can have fun cooking their own food.

Do leave some space for dessert especially the quintessentially auspicious Deep-fried Ninko with Yam. Also on the dessert counter are Double-boiled Red Dates with Lotus Seeds, Mandarin Orange Fruit Tartlets, Glutinous Rice Balls (Tong Yuen) in warm Ginger Syrup, Lotus Paste in Chinese Pancakes with Vanilla Ice Cream and the refreshing Lime Crème Brulee, among many others.

The above specialties are in addition to Coffee House’s buffet spread featuring local and international favourites, and the outlet is certified halal.

This year, Gen@10 Japanese Restaurant will open its doors to cater for diners who wish to partake the reunion dinner with a touch from the Land of the Rising Sun. The team has prepared a spread of more than eighty dishes to entice your palate, consisting of a wide selection ranging from tempting appetizers to satisfying main courses and delicious desserts. Among the dishes available include sashimi, sushi and nabemono (hot pot), including Gen@10’s signature Double-boiled Burdock Root Soup and the Japanese Yee Sang, an interesting twist to the ubiquitous raw fish salad. There are also tempura, the a-la-minute teppanyaki, a myriad of hot items and a splendid array of desserts, not forgetting Gen@10’s well-known matcha (green tea) ice cream. The Japanese Reunion Buffet Dinner at Gen@10 Japanese Restaurant is available on 30 January 2014 and priced at RM82.00++.

The reunion buffet dinner is served from 6.30 pm to 10.30 pm at both venues. Reservations are definitely recommended. For more information please call Coffee House at 03 4042 9888 ext. 9032, Gen@10 Japanese Restaurant at 03 4042 9888 ext. 1011, fax at 03 4043 0700 or e-mail [email protected].
