Eastin Unveils The Emperor Treasure Pot Experience

February 3, 2021 by StrawberrY Gal

Eastin Hotel Kuala Lumpur is unveiling the first-of-its-kind Emperor Treasure Pot Package to usher in the Metal Ox Year, a year that celebrates hard work, success and perseverance.

According to history, Poon Choi was invented during the late Song Dynasty. When Mongol troops invaded the Song region of China, the young Emperor fled to the area around Guangdong Province. The locals were honoured to feed the Emperor and his army with the best food available but did not have enough serving dishes, so they put the resulting meal in large wooden washbasins. From humble yet royal beginnings, these traditionally large communal pots proved perfect for large gatherings connected with weddings, festivals, and village activities.

To provide some much needed relief to the current challenges our country and the world is going through, our award winning Ee Chinese Restaurant led by Chef Chong Swee Chyuan, with over 20 years’ experience in Chinese cuisine, has created our interpretation of the most luxurious Poon Choi ever, using only the finest ingredients.

The top layer kicks off the super premium offering with 2-head Australian abalones, Japanese dried scallops, New Zealand fish maw, Liao Dong sea cucumber, extra large sea prawns, Sha Jing Hao oysters, premium mushrooms and the piece-de-resistance, a whole live 1.8kg Australian lobster.

The second layer continues the experience with a whole Peking duck and smoked organic village chicken, as well as organic whole Chinese cabbage leaves and braised bean curd skin. Finally, the bottom layer, which adds heft to the whole creation, consists of premium yam and Japanese white radish designed to absorb all the stunning flavours from the delicacies sitting on top of it.

Literally, to top off the whole thing is a special sauce made from all-natural ingredients and slow-cooked with the 2-head Australian Abalone for eight hours. The abalones are then removed and the soup continues reducing until it thickens. Right before serving, the sauce will be ladled over the top layer to release the beautiful nuanced flavour throughout the rest of the layered ingredients.

Partaking of this Emperor Treasure Pot attracts wealth, health, prosperity, happiness and abundance for everyone. According to Andrew Law, General Manager, “This Lunar New Year marks a new beginning as we are bringing the first of our enhanced dining experiences to our guests. We are excited to create lasting memories in 2021, starting with this ultimate dish to be enjoyed by the whole family.”

The Package includes a premium fresh fruit yee sang to kick off the meal, as well as a lap mei fan, a traditional rice dish with waxed meat that can be eaten with the Emperor Treasure Pot, which by the way will be served in a high quality ceramic pot. To truly make the night memorable, a bottle of 18 years old Macallan Single Malt whisky to complement the meal, as well as a bottle of Dom Perignon champagne will be provided to complete the festivities. And to top of this already magnificent meal, a set of beautiful Nian Gao fishes will be your dessert.

This whole luxury package is well priced at RM9,888 per set which will comfortably satisfy a family of 10-12 persons and will be delivered to your doorstep.  A complimentary night stay in the Presidential Suite for your enjoyment worth RM3,500 will be available at any time for you to enjoy. Packages are limited and are available from now till 20th February with an advance order of seven days’ notice. Last delivery is on the 26th of February. For reservations or more information, call +6016 262 2059 or email [email protected] or visit our site at www.eastin.com/kuala-lumpur for this and other festive meal deals and room specials. Ee Chinese Restaurant is a pork free restaurant.
