CHINESE NEW YEAR MEALS AT DYNASTY RESTAURANT, RENAISSANCE HOTEL KL

January 28, 2013 By StrawberrY Gal - Food Review, Invited Review 1 Comment

At Dynasty Restaurant, I am always tempted with the delicious delights by the Executive Sous Chef Kok Chee Kin and his team of talented chef. his year around, the restaurant had offer the delicious Cantonese Cuisine from now till 24 February 2013 in the celebration of Chinese New Year from now till 24 February 2013.

This year, Renaissance Hotel will focus on the use of traditional ingredients while emphasizing on light and fresh flavors for the healthy feasting with family and friends. This year, Chef Kin had created three (3) festive set menus which Is namely Happiness Set, Fortune Test, and Longevity Set where the price starts from RM 1138++, 1388++, and RM 1888++ for the group of 10 pax. This time Chef Kin had prepared a selection of delicious menu for us to sample.

– The fruits yee sang-

We started off with the fruits yee sang. The fruit yee sang is special dish where it is being served with the Korean Pear, yam pomelo as well as fresh fruits. The yee sang comes special with the beautiful cutted fruits where they have dragon fruits, honeydew, apple, mango and strawberry. I felt that the dish is very special with the fresh cut fruits in it but not only that, it is well mix together with the plum sauce which brings up the sweet and sour taste together and blend it quite well.

– Yin Yang Scallop, Sea Treasure Soup-
– Yin Yang Scallop, Sea Treasure Soup-

Next we had the Yin Yang Scallop, Sea Treasure Soup where the soup is being served with the Australian scallops and also shark fin with it. The soup is delicious where the soup is thick and scrumptious. The scallops which are being served are also fresh and big.

Next comes the Smoked Farm Chicken which is very fragrant when it is being served to us. The farm chicken is being marinated from tea leaves and it is then being steamed and smoked. The sauce comes when the chicken is being smoked. I love the dish so much, even though, Chef Kok Chee Kin used the farm chicken in preparing the dish, it is still good where the chicken meat is tender and juicy. I could say, this is a special dish to try off and it is superb.

–Steamed Live Green Grouper-
–Steamed Live Green Grouper-

Steamed Live Green Grouper is also god where the fish is very fresh Though it is just steam, the dish does not disappoint us too with the sweet soy sauce where the sweetness comes from the fish. It is heavenly with the fresh grouper meat.

–Fatt Choy, Whole Dried Scallop & Garlic-

Coming next is the Fatt Choy, Whole Dried Scallop & Garlic. The dish is simply good and juicy with the 3 layer pork which comes with it and it s simply good. The Australian dried scallops are also added into the dish with the dried oyster that topped on top. It is a traditional dish for Chinese New Year but I am addicted to it now.

-Baked Prawns Roll with Cheese, Wok fried prawns with asparagus in XO Sauce-
-Baked Prawns Roll with Cheese, Wok fried prawns with asparagus in XO Sauce-

Baked Prawns Roll with Cheese, Wok fried prawns with asparagus in XO Sauce is where the prawns are being served with 2 selections. The prawns are being baked and minced, then it is being wrapped with cheese and being deep fried till crispiness. Inside, it being stuffed with some mango with it which gives a special blend and the rolls are being covered with the sesame too. As for the prawns, it is juicy and crispy as well, where the prawns are well served with the XO sauce with it. The dish is scrumptious and delicious which it is never enough.

– Glutinous Rice with Assorted Waxed Meat and Shell Abalone-
– Glutinous Rice with Assorted Waxed Meat and Shell Abalone-

We ended the main courses with the Glutinous Rice with Assorted Waxed Meat and Shell Abalone. The rice meal which is well made with the lovely glutinous rice which added with the lap mei, mushroom and also slice abalone. It is sinfully delicious and I could finish the whole bowl of rice even though I am so full.

Here comes the dessert where we are served with the Double Boiled Hasma, Red Dates, Lotus Seeds & Sea Coconut. It is a cooling desserts to have and it is not too sweet.

We ended with the Dynasty Fortune Pastry where we are served with the Cold Skin Red Bean as well as Nian Kao which is served with the shredded coconut. It is really superb after the heavy meals.

Overall, the food which are being served are superb and delicious aside from the creativity dishes by Chef Kok Chee Kin. It is also worth for money for the dish we had.
