AYAM BRAND INTRODUCES LIGHTHEARTED COOKING LESSONS IN THE STUDENT WEBSERIES STARING AISHAH SINCLAIR AND WILL QUAH

June 7, 2013 by StrawberrY Gal

Growing up, moving out and moving away from home to further one’s studies, to pursue career opportunities or to set up one’s own family is a rite of passage but many of us are unprepared especially when it comes to moving to another country.

Ayam Brand™, famed for its wide range of healthy and convenient, preservative-free canned products, has captured some of the culinary challenges faced by young people heading overseas through the humorous and lighthearted webseries, The Student that stars Aishah Sinclair and Will Quah.

Directed by acclaimed local writer, director, producer, editor, actor and musician, Khairil M. Bahar, the 12 webpisode series The Student – 12 Days to Save Her Little Bro stars Aishah Sinclair as Sarah the capable elder sister of the culinarily inept Will played by actor Will Quah, who will be leaving to study overseas in 12 days.  Sarah’s mission is to equip her younger brother with simple cooking skills and quick culinary solutions from Ayam Brand so that he will not be homesick for Malaysian food while he is away.

The 12 webpisodes begin with the basics of Nasi Lemak and Nasi Goreng before  exploring other Malaysian favorites, some fusion cooking and a couple of Western dishes too.

Aishah Sinclair, now a mother of one has always been interested in cooking, and eating.

“Sarah is a character that I can identify with because I have always been the one that friends and family turn to when they need to eat. I’m used to cooking for large groups and whipping up pretty good food with whatever is available. Now that I have a child of my own, healthy, preservative and MSG-free food is even more important to me and my family. With my schedule, food needs to be convenient and quick to prepare which is why Ayam Brand products and The Student webseries appeals to me,” said Aishah.

Will Quah spent his early years in Australia, returning to Malaysia when he was 13 years.

“After each visit to Malaysia, I would miss the local cuisine immensely. For Malaysians studying abroad they need to remember that eating out is expensive and that Malaysian cuisine is not easily found in some countries. However, Ayam Brand™  products are widely available globally and with basic knowledge on using a rice cooker and opening a can, you can enjoy the authentic taste of home. I’d also like to add that I am a decent cook having gone through the clueless about cooking stage when I was in college,” Will Quah explained.

For Ayam Brand™, The Student – 12 Days To Save Her Little Bro is another innovative and creative approach to promoting recipes to more consumers especially those who look for their infotainment online.

According to Ayam Brand™ Marketing Manager, Ms Marie-Magali Falcoz, The Student webpisodes were designed to reach the brand’s loyal online followers, with a more humorous approach of video recipes.

“Ayam Brand™ has a rapidly growing social mediabase. The Student is our own content and we believe it will appeal to our consumers as it is engaging, informative and has the simple to follow, yet tasty interactive recipes that we are well-known for. We worked with Khairil, Aishah and Will to create a series that helps young people laugh at themselves and learn the important skill of cooking. Feedback on the webpisodes has been very positive so far,” said Ms Marie-Magali Falcoz.
