DÔME Café Celebrates Malaysia on a Plate with Nasi Lemak Malaysiana

February 11, 2026 by StrawberrY Gal

As Malaysia prepares to welcome the world for Visit Malaysia Year 2026, one of the country’s most familiar café names is marking a milestone of its own. DÔME Café, a brand that has been part of Malaysia’s dining landscape for over three decades, commemorates more than 30 years of serving Malaysians with the launch of Nasi Lemak Malaysiana — a heartfelt tribute to the nation’s most beloved dish.

More than a menu addition, Nasi Lemak Malaysiana is positioned as a culinary statement. Rooted firmly in tradition yet thoughtfully adapted for a café setting, the dish reflects DÔME’s respect for heritage, patience in preparation, and understanding of Malaysia’s diverse food culture. Created to appeal to both local diners and international visitors, it celebrates the depth and familiarity of Malaysian flavours while offering the comfort and accessibility of café dining.

At the heart of the dish is fragrant coconut-infused Basmati rice, delicately cooked to achieve lightness while retaining richness. It is paired with DÔME’s signature Ayam Berempah, marinated with spices and cooked for depth of flavour, delivering warmth and aroma with every bite. Complementing the dish is a bold house-made sambal, balanced between heat and sweetness, alongside an indulgent addition of sambal sotong, which adds texture, complexity, and a celebratory touch to the plate.

In a thoughtful departure from convention, the traditional hard-boiled egg is replaced with a pindang egg, meticulously slow-steeped overnight in a blend of 12 spices, herbs, and leaves. This method allows the egg to absorb layers of colour, aroma, and flavour, offering a nuanced experience that reflects time-honoured cooking techniques often associated with festive or ceremonial meals.

The result is a dish that feels both familiar and elevated — an iconic Malaysian staple where time, flavour, and tradition converge, presented in a café environment trusted by Malaysians across generations.

To complete the experience, Nasi Lemak Malaysiana may be paired with Teh Tarik, Malaysia’s iconic pulled tea. Frothy, rich, and comforting, it provides a harmonious counterbalance to the dish’s bold and savoury notes, reinforcing the sense of nostalgia and national identity.

Serving as DÔME Café’s hero product throughout 2026, Nasi Lemak Malaysiana symbolises more than culinary pride. It represents Malaysia’s spirit of hospitality — welcoming the world through flavours that tell a story of heritage, unity, and shared experience.

Nasi Lemak Malaysiana is available at all DÔME Café outlets nationwide throughout Visit Malaysia Year 2026, priced at RM39.90, and RM43.90 at Genting Highlands Premium Outlets.

As Malaysia steps into the global spotlight, DÔME Café invites diners — both local and international — to experience the country’s culinary soul, one plate at a time.
