A Grand Lunar New Year Feast of Elegance and Abundance at Oversea Restaurant

February 4, 2026 by StrawberrY Gal

Lunar New Year is a time when food transcends nourishment and becomes a language of blessings, heritage, and togetherness. At Oversea Restaurant(海上渔村), this philosophy is expressed with remarkable clarity through a festive menu that is both deeply traditional and exquisitely refined. Every dish tells a story — of prosperity wished, of warmth shared, and of a new year welcomed with intention.

From the moment the menu arrives, dressed in auspicious red and gold, it signals a celebration rooted in meaning. The experience unfolds like a carefully written chapter of the New Year narrative, where symbolism, craftsmanship, and flavour intertwine seamlessly.

A Promising Beginning

The feast begins gently yet meaningfully with Prosperity Lucky Bun(包你大吉又大利). Soft, pillowy, and comforting, the bun carries an auspicious promise — a blessing for good fortune and smooth beginnings. It is a humble yet thoughtful opening, warming both the palate and the spirit.

Tossing for Prosperity

No Lunar New Year celebration is complete without yee sang, and Oversea Restaurant’s Oversea Fabulous Fruity Yee Sang with Dragon Fruit Sauce(天下第一捞) offers a refreshing and modern interpretation of this beloved tradition. Crisp vegetables, vibrant colours, and fresh textures are elevated by the subtle sweetness of dragon fruit sauce, creating a harmonious balance rather than overpowering richness.

As the table gathers to toss the yee sang high, laughter and blessings fill the air — a moment that encapsulates the true essence of the season: unity, hope, and shared joy.

Elegance from the Sea

Seafood, long associated with abundance and vitality, shines brightly in Stir Fried Crystal Prawn and Water Chestnut(龙马又精神). The prawns are succulent and delicately cooked, retaining their natural sweetness, while the water chestnuts add a refreshing crunch that lightens the dish. Clean, precise, and elegant, it reflects both culinary restraint and confidence.

This dish feels symbolic in its execution — energetic yet composed — echoing its name’s wish for strength and vitality in the year ahead.

Comfort and Prosperity in Every Bite

Rich, warming flavours take centre stage with Braised Pork Trotter(横财就手过好年), a dish steeped in tradition and indulgence. Slow-braised to tender perfection, the pork trotter is coated in a glossy, deeply savoury sauce that speaks of patience and mastery. Each bite delivers comfort and abundance, making it a quintessential New Year dish that satisfies both emotionally and gastronomically.

The Heart of the Feast:盆菜

The undeniable showpiece of the menu is the Prosperity Treasure Pot(经典金装盆菜), a luxurious symbol of reunion and generosity. Layered with premium ingredients — including 6-head whole abalone, sea cucumber, Japanese dried scallop, fish maw, crystal prawns, roasted pork belly, pork tendon, mushrooms, asparagus, and Cantonese roast duck — the盆菜 is both visually impressive and richly flavourful.

Each ingredient retains its own identity while contributing to the overall harmony of the dish. As the layers are revealed, it becomes more than a meal; it is a shared experience, a centrepiece that draws diners together in appreciation and celebration.

Homely Warmth, Hong Kong Style

Following the grandeur of the treasure pot, Hong Kong Style Claypot Waxed Meat Rice(新春瓦煲腊味饭) offers comforting familiarity. The fragrance of preserved duck leg, Cantonese preserved sausage, honey Chinese sausage, and preserved pork belly rises with the steam, evoking memories of home-style cooking and festive family gatherings.

The rice absorbs the richness of the waxed meats, delivering warmth and depth with every spoonful — a dish that grounds the feast with heartfelt nostalgia.

Sweet Traditions to End on a High Note

Dessert continues the narrative of symbolism and hope. Fortune Nian Gao(步步齐高升) represents growth, progress, and rising fortunes. Soft, gently sweet, and comforting, it connects generations through tradition, offering a sense of reassurance and optimism.

The meal concludes with a light and elegant finale: Snow Bird Nest with Hasma & Red Dates(冰润红枣雪蛤雪燕). Delicately sweet and soothing, this dessert refreshes the palate while leaving a lingering sense of calm and luxury. It is a thoughtful ending — refined, gentle, and perfectly suited to close such a celebratory feast.

A Celebration Beyond the Table

Oversea Restaurant’s Lunar New Year menu is not simply a collection of festive dishes; it is a carefully curated journey through tradition, symbolism, and refined craftsmanship. Each course is prepared with intention, balancing richness with restraint, indulgence with elegance.

In every bite, there is warmth. In every dish, there is meaning. And in every shared moment around the table, there is the true spirit of the New Year — reunion, gratitude, and hope for the days ahead.
