XIANG XIANG HUNAN CUISINE EXPANDS FOOTPRINT IN MALAYSIA WITH FOUR NEW OUTLETS

January 22, 2026 by StrawberrY Gal

In the ever-evolving Malaysian dining landscape, few arrivals have generated as much anticipation as Xiang Xiang Hunan Cuisine. Celebrated for its bold flavours and refined craftsmanship, the award-winning Hunan cuisine brand has officially entered Malaysia, introducing its distinctive culinary philosophy to discerning local diners.

With a legacy spanning 16 years and 21 outlets across Singapore, Xiang Xiang Hunan Cuisine has long been revered for its mastery of flavour-rich stir-fries, premium ingredients and thoughtful execution. Founded in 2009, the Singapore-born brand has grown steadily into a household name, known for elevating traditional Hunan dishes while remaining deeply respectful of their origins. Its expansion into Malaysia marks a natural evolution — one that brings its signature intensity and depth of flavour, carefully tailored to suit the Malaysian palate.

A Confident Expansion Across Malaysia

Xiang Xiang Hunan Cuisine’s Malaysian debut has been both strategic and ambitious. In 2025 alone, the brand unveiled four outlets nationwide, signalling strong confidence in the local market. The openings include Gurney Plaza and Sunway Carnival Mall in Penang, followed by AEON Mall Bukit Indah and Paradigm Mall in Johor Bahru, allowing diners across key regions to experience its celebrated offerings.

Each outlet reflects the brand’s commitment to consistency, quality and elevated casual dining, ensuring that the Xiang Xiang experience remains unmistakable, regardless of location.

Dining in Nature: The Paradigm Mall Experience

The brand’s newest outlet at Paradigm Mall, Johor Bahru, presents a refreshed expression of the Xiang Xiang identity. Marking its second location in Johor and fourth in Malaysia, the restaurant invites diners into a space inspired by the natural beauty of Hunan’s mountainous landscapes.

The interior adopts a mountain-and-forest chic aesthetic, blending warm wood textures with lush greenery and earthy tones. The result is a calming yet sophisticated environment that feels both contemporary and grounded. With seating for up to 110 guests across 41 tables, the space is designed to accommodate everything from intimate family meals to lively group gatherings, all while maintaining a sense of comfort and refinement.

The Soul of Hunan Cuisine, Perfected

At the heart of Xiang Xiang Hunan Cuisine lies an unwavering dedication to fresh, made-to-order cooking. Each dish is prepared with precision, balancing the hallmark heat of Hunan cuisine with layers of aroma, acidity and umami.

One of the brand’s most iconic offerings, the Hunan Stir-Fried Pork, exemplifies this philosophy. Featuring tender pork, premium chillies and Yunnan white fungus, the dish has been refined through more than ten iterations to achieve its signature flavour — bold, fragrant and deeply satisfying.

Equally compelling is the Golden Broth Sour & Spicy Fish, where delicate fish is immersed in a vibrant lemon-spiced broth alongside silky tofu and enoki mushrooms. The result is a dish that is both invigorating and elegant, offering brightness without overpowering the palate. The Dual Pepper Antler Mushroom Chicken, with its punchy heat and earthy undertones, rounds out the signature selections, delivering a comforting yet robust stir-fry ideal for sharing.

Beyond the plate, Xiang Xiang Hunan Cuisine elevates the dining experience with thoughtful touches, including unlimited snacks and ice cream, as well as an unconditional return and exchange policy for any quality-related concerns — a rare assurance that reflects the brand’s confidence in its culinary standards.

Exclusive New Creations at Paradigm Mall

At its Paradigm Mall outlet, Xiang Xiang Hunan Cuisine introduces a curated selection of exclusive new dishes, highlighting the versatility of Hunan-style stir-frying:

The Stir-Fried Tender Chicken with Old Ginger pairs hand-selected chicken with mature ginger, wok-tossed to release deep aromatic warmth. The Fresh Chilli Bullfrog with Chicken Claws offers a bolder indulgence, combining lean bullfrog meat with collagen-rich chicken claws in a richly spiced sauce that balances heat with depth. Meanwhile, the Fresh Chilli Spicy Prawns showcase succulent tiger prawns cooked with vibrant fresh red chillies, allowing the natural sweetness of the seafood to shine through the spice.

These exclusive offerings further cement the Paradigm Mall outlet as a must-visit destination for adventurous diners.

A New Chapter for Hunan Cuisine in Malaysia

With its confident expansion, immersive dining spaces and uncompromising approach to flavour, Xiang Xiang Hunan Cuisine is poised to redefine how Malaysians experience Hunan cuisine. Blending tradition with modern sensibility, the brand delivers more than just bold flavours — it offers a thoughtfully curated dining journey that speaks to both heritage and contemporary taste.
