Thai Hou Sek @ 1 Utama : The Fusion Thai Delights

December 12, 2023 by StrawberrY Gal

Embarking on a recent culinary exploration, our senses were delighted at Thai Hou Sek, a lively non-halal restaurant situated in the heart of One Utama Shopping Mall. They are located at the Old Wing of the mall itself where it is just next to Wondermama.

Distinguished for its innovative fusion of Thai and Chinese culinary traditions, Thai Hou Sek beckons diners to indulge in a delectable array of pork-infused dishes, promising an unforgettable dining experience that caters to the most discerning palates.

Bang Bang Baby Shrimp-Shroom

Prepare your taste buds for a culinary thrill as Bang Bang Baby Shrimp-Shroom takes center stage, delivering an unforgettable experience of textures and flavors. This dish, a masterpiece of culinary creativity, seamlessly blends the delicate crunch of baby shrimp and shimeiji mushrooms with the bold kick of garlic and Thai spicy chili basil flakes. We love how the dish is cook where it uses the garlic and Thau Chili Basil Flakes with enhance the taste and yet bring you with the robust and umami flavours to it.

Sticky Pork Belly

Prepare to be enchanted by the crisp perfection of deep-fried pork belly in Super Sticky Pork Belly. The glaze that envelops the deep-fried pork belly is nothing short of irresistible. A spicy kick adds a dynamic element to the sweet and tangy tamarind base, creating a complex and nuanced flavor profile. From the crispy perfection of the pork belly to the tangy elegance of the tamarind sauce, every element comes together in a glorious symphony of flavors.

Siu Yok Red Tom Yum

Experience a culinary revelation with Siu Yok Red Tom Yum, a bold fusion that takes the iconic Tom Yum soup to unprecedented heights by introducing the rich and savory essence of Siu Yuk.The crispy pork belly, with its golden exterior and succulent layers, seamlessly integrates with the vibrant and aromatic Tom Yum soup. And I love the great combination and the sourish spicy soup which blends well.

Basil Soy Steamed Seabass

Basil Soy Steamed Seabass is a careful infusion of basil brings a fresh and aromatic twist to the familiar flavors of soy and ginger. As you savor Basil Soy Steamed Seabass, take a moment to appreciate the symphony of flavors unfolding on your palate. The soy provides depth, the ginger adds warmth, and the basil brings a refreshing herbal note.

Drunken Seafood Master

Drunken Seafood Master brings you with the combination of Tiger Prawn, squid, and mussel bathed in the intoxicating essence of Chinese wine. This dish is a celebration of oceanic flavors, harmoniously blended and elevated by the infusion of Chinese wine. The wine not only adds depth to the seafood medley but also imparts a subtle warmth that enhances the overall dining experience.

Garlic Scapes with Dried Shrimp and Tofu

Garlic Scapes with Dried Shrimp and Tofu is a simple dish and it brings you a fresh and vibrant taste. The dish comes with fresh vegetables and together with the dried shrimp, it is indeed enhanced the overall taste of it.

After a heavy meal, we ends with some of the sweet delights.

Mango Sticky Rice

The Mango Sticky Rice is a dessert that transcends tradition and becomes a sweet symphony of tropical delight. Immerse yourself in the harmony of sticky rice, coconut milk and fresh mango. Thai Hou Sek goes beyond the expected by introducing mango pop pop, a delightful burst of mango goodness that elevates the tropical medley. The addition of grated coconut adds a subtle nuttiness, contributing to the complexity of flavors. The balance of sweetness, the creaminess of coconut, and the juicy freshness of mango create a dessert that lingers in the memory long after the last bite.

Tropical Dream

Escape to a tropical paradise with the Tropical Dream dessert, a heavenly creation that tantalizes the taste buds with a symphony of flavors and textures. The delights comes with coconut ice cream, deep-fried jackfruit, mango pop pop, gula melaka, grass jelly, mango, kidney bean, and crushed peanuts. I love the awesome delights. The combination of tropical ingredients creates a symphony that transports you to a faraway paradise, where the sweetness of mango and the creaminess of coconut reign supreme.

Thai Milk Tea Sando

Concluding our culinary adventure at Thai Hou Sek, the “Thai Milk Tea Sando” emerges as the perfect epilogue—a dessert that encapsulates the essence of Thai-inspired sweetness. At the heart of this dessert lies the star ingredient—Thai milk tea ice cream. With its distinct and robust flavor, it serves as the anchor, infusing the entire dish with the signature taste of Thailand’s beloved beverage. The creamy, velvety texture of the ice cream adds a luxurious touch to every bite.

For those who appreciate culinary creativity and a sinful twist to familiar dishes, Thai Hou Sek is undoubtedly a must-try destination. As we bid adieu to this gastronomic haven, the lingering flavors continue to tantalize our taste buds, making Thai Hou Sek a memorable stop in our culinary adventures.
