Celebrate the Time for Family Reunions This Mid-Autumn Festival with Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong

July 23, 2016 by StrawberrY Gal

To celebrate the fast approaching Mid-Autumn Festival and embrace its family traditions, The Mandarin Cake Shop at Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong will offer a wide selection of tempting delicacies including mooncakes and gift hampers from 22 July until 15 September 2016. Also, for the first time, Michelin-starred Man Wah restaurant will offer “Limited Edition” mini-mooncakes with only 500 exclusive boxes available.

Using the finest quality ingredients, highlights of the specialty mooncakes include golden or white lotus with egg yolk, mini red bean paste with egg yolk, mini egg custard mooncakes, and more. All mooncakes are presented in beautifully re-designed packaging to reflect Mid-Autumn Festival’s traditional roots with a contemporary theme, representing the natural progression through the full lunar cycle. Culminating in the full moon and arrival of Mid-Autumn Festival, a time for family reunions and celebrations, the varying moon shapes of crescent moon, half-moon and new moon are incorporated into the new design. This intricate element captures the sense of anticipation leading up to the festival and its emotive significance in Chinese culture.

The packaging of the 500 “Limited Edition” mini egg custard mooncakes from Man Wah showcases “lanterns”, a key decorative element and timeless cultural icon of Mid-Autumn Festival, as well as Man Wah restaurant’s interiors.

Perfect for gift giving, a series of Mandarin Gift Hampers will also be available at The Mandarin Cake Shop. Options include Mandarin Deluxe Mooncake 3-Tier or 1-Tier Hampers priced at HKD3,288 and HKD2,888 respectively, Mandarin Seasonal Fruit Mooncake Hamper at HKD2,288, and Mandarin Mooncake Gift Box at HKD1,788.

“Celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival is an important part of Chinese culture and one that gives families and friends a chance to unite under the beautiful full moonlight and indulge in this seasonal treat,” says Anthony Costa, General Manager. “Our team is delighted to offer guests two entirely new collections of mooncakes and hampers using the finest quality ingredients, elegantly packaged in our thoughtfully designed mooncake gift boxes.”

For early-bird orders until 13 August 2016, every guest purchase of 10 boxes of mooncakes or more will receive a 10% off. Orders for these beautifully packaged mooncakes or Gift Hampers can be collected in person or delivered by the hotel to any address in the city. A convenient telephone order and delivery service is available by calling +852 2825 4008, faxing +852 2903 1624 or emailing [email protected]. Order forms are available online here. For purchases over HKD5,000, delivery on Hong Kong Island is complimentary, while for Kowloon and the New Territories delivery is complimentary for purchases over HKD6,000 and HKD7,000 respectively.
