SONGKRAN FESTIVAL MENU @ BAAN KUN YA

April 7, 2016 by StrawberrY Gal

It is time for Songkran again. And this is one of the huge festival in Thailand. Songkran Festival is celebrated in Thailand as the traditional New Year’s Day from 13 to 15 April where it s a big fstval. The Songkran celebration is rich with symbolic traditions. The morning begins with merit-making. Visiting local temples and offering food to the Buddhist monks are commonly practiced; however, on this specific occasion, performing water pouring on Buddha statues is considered an iconic ritual for this holiday – it represents purification and the washing away all of their sins and bad luck.

And during this period, let us celebrate Songkran Festival with Baan Kun Ya where you can enjoy their special menu which is available  from  9th to 17 April 2016 which is amazingly unique.

Sar Koo Sai Gai ( RM15)
It is our first time trying this and I can say I am impressed with it. One of the popular food in Thailand to go for and it is hardly can be found in locals is now here in Baan Kun Ya.  The walnut-sized ball of slightly chewy translucent steamed tapioca filled with seasoned ground chicken. It is served with leafy green lettuce, cilantro and fiery prik kee noo, fresh Thai chili peppers, giving a bright flavour blast to the savoury filling.

Yam Tuer Plu ( RM38)
Another spicy dish to go for here.  The four angle bean is being stir fried with thai chilly and also thai fish paste together with prawns. Served together with the cutted hard boiled egg with it. Perfectly good and I love how it goes and munch with the crispy bites.

Gaeng Liang Goong Sot (RM 32)
Dangerous! This is simply spicy and not the same like those usual pepper soup we had. Using the Thai ingredients, the Thai peppery soup comes with the  fresh prawns ,  pumpkin, baby corns, chilies, mushroom. Cooked together with the fresh seasonal vegetables. The soup based is super spicy that you need to be careful when you are sipping it. Take it slow and you will enjoy the kick of spice.

Lap Gai Thod ( RM25)
This is my favourite. The tempting delicious chicken ball comes awesomely good with the tender and juicy chicken meat. Every mouthful comes simply flavourful and good and I can say, I am perfectly loving it so much especially on the delicious bites of it especially the complete juiciness.

Khao Niew Som Tam, Gai thod (RM25)
For more unique delights, try this- the pulut with papaya salad is served together with the deep fried chicken wing. How to eat them? Take the pulut, then Pulut with papaya salad and deep fried chicken wing together. Enjoy them and it brings you a unique taste which is the light sweetness from the pulut while the spiciness is from the papaya salad and lastly the savory bites from the chicken itself.

Pla Goong  – RM46
The fresh prawns is well cooked till perfection with the spicy chilli. I love the spicy bites of the prawns itself and every mouthful is amazingly good. Deliicious texture of the prawns together with the spicy chilly. Burst your mouth with the complete

Khanom Thuay (RM9)
Ends your meals with some desserts. The creamy and milky desserts combines the
sweetness from pandan juice and saltiness from coconut milk.
