A TASTE OF DRAGON BOAT FESTIVE SPIRIT AT TAO CHINESE CUISINE

June 11, 2015 by StrawberrY Gal

Chef Lo and Chef Wong joined hands to raise
the flavour of all-time favorites to a higher level.

With ever-growing heats and expectations of upcoming Dragon Boat festival, InterContinental Kuala Lumpur’s signature Chinese restaurant, Tao Chinese Cuisine is offering special glutinous rice dumplings or fondly know as chang to the families who want to taste the genuine spirit of the festival available from now until 20 June 2015.

Offering always the best, dim sum chef Lo Tian Sion and executive Chinese chef Wong Lian You has joined efforts to raise the flavours of all-time favourites to a higher level and stimulate taste buds with chef’s special ‘Hot & Spicy’ homemade sauce. Tao’s new glutinous rice dumpling creations are handmade fresh daily, steamed to perfection encased in the fragrant aroma of bamboo leaves.

Chef’s recommendation this season is a deluxe treat of Abalone Sea Treasure Glutinous Rice Dumpling, using the finest seafood ingredients such as sea cucumber, fish maw, dried scallops, mushroom and baby abalone. This handcrafted gastronomic pleasure is priced at RM67.60nett per piece.

Other choices of savory dumplings are Dried Oyster with Braised Peanut for a rich and nutty flavour, and carefully Smoked Duck with Salted Egg, Dried Scallop, Mei Tau and Sichuan Pepper for that hint of spice. Each dumpling generously filled will be a feast for guests with a zesty wallop of flavour and texture, priced at RM21nett each.

For those with a preference for sweet glutinous rice dumpling, there are mini versions like the Duo of Flavour and Traditional Red Bean Paste. Both priced at RM14nett for two pieces, it will satisfy guests of all ages without being overly sweet.

A great gift for friends and family to commemorate the Dragon Boat festivity, Chef Wong and Chef Lo’s chang delectables are available for dine-in and takeaway with a special packaging box. For reservations, call Tao at 03-2782 6000 or email the team at [email protected]. Tao Chinese Cuisine is open daily from 11:30am to 2.30 pm for lunch and 6.30 pm to 10.30 pm for dinner. Visit us at www.intercontinental-kl.com.my for more information, follow us on Facebook and Instagram @intercontinental.kualalumpur, Twitter @ interconkl.

Tao is designed to bring guests authentic and memorable dining experiences through the revival of traditional cooking techniques, tailored by the skills of Executive Chef Wong, and exceptional menu items. “Tao”, which means peach in Chinese, is decorated graciously with bloom of the pale pink peach flowers and features hundreds of ornate Chinese teapots. The restaurant houses six elegant private rooms all named after the dynasties in China – Han, Song, Tang, Yuan, Ming, and Qin.
