THE PRIZED TREASURE OF CHINESE CUISINE: INTERCONTINENTAL KL’S TAO RESTAURANT OFFERS THE LUXURY DELICACY ABALONE “BAO YUE”

October 24, 2013 by StrawberrY Gal

InterContinental Kuala Lumpur’s signature Chinese restaurant Tao is offering one of the four treasures of Chinese cuisine, Abalone, as its special this November 1 to 30.  Presenting a combination of premium live and dried abalone, the restaurant’s award-winning Executive Chinese Chef, Wong Lian You, has put his renowned culinary skills to the test with three new inventions.

Delicious in taste, Abalone fits into the standards of Chinese dietary therapy. High in protein and rich in A, B, C and D vitamins, Abalone helps enhance human body functions especially for the lung, liver and stomach according to Chinese medicine theories.

Try Chef Wong’s Braised South Africa 16 Head Superior Abalone with Diced Truffle and Forest Mushroom Dumpling or the Sous Vide 3 Head Abalone with Lotus Root, Foie Gras, Chicken, Golden Broth and Truffle Oil. For the live Abalone option, there is the Slow Cooked Abalone Toban with Shredded Vegetables, Hot and Sour Dressing. Each Abalone dish is paired with premium ingredients and requires at least eight hours of preparation attention from the chefs.  The dishes are priced from RM118++ to RM468++ per portion.

Tao is designed to bring guests authentic and memorable dining experiences through the revival of traditional cooking techniques and exceptional menu items. “Tao”, which means peach in Mandarin, is decorated graciously with the bloom of the pale pink peach flower and features hundreds of ornate Chinese teapots collected from around Asia and are displayed for diners to enjoy, inspect and purchase should they wish.

The restaurant houses six private rooms all named after the dynasties in China – Han, Song, Tang, Yuan, Ming, and Qin, and is open seven days a week, serving a la carte lunch from noon to 2:30pm and dinner from 6:30pm to 10:30pm.

For reservations, please call Tao Chinese Cuisine at 603-2161 1111 or e-mail [email protected]
