WATAMI PRESENTS 12 LIMITED EDITION GOZEN SETS

December 8, 2014 by StrawberrY Gal

Malaysia’s first and most well-known “Ishokuya” modern Japanese restaurant, WATAMI has recently introduced Gozen sets that will delight and satiate even the most discerning of modern Japanese epicureans.

Gozen is an ode to WATAMI’s culinary expertise and success in Japan and features exclusive highlights of the popular Tokyo-based franchise restaurant’s extensive menu of over 100 original dishes in 12 pre-selected combination sets.

“WATAMI is excited to offer the best of our extensive menu in beautifully presented sets,” said Chaswood Marketing Director, Raymond Liew. “Gozen is reflective of the renowned art of and care in Japanese food presentation,” he said, adding that the value-for-money sets are available exclusively in Malaysia and Singapore.

Presented in signature black and red lacquer trays, WATAMI Gozen exceed expectations with each set offering a scrumptious signature main dish accompanied by a popular side dish of either fresh sashimi, choice sushi, tempura or deep fried dumplings; quality Japanese rice; soft white tofu topped with bonito flakes, fragrant miso soup, deliciously smooth chawanmushi and fresh fruit.

The Wafu Toban Beef Steak & Salmon Sashimi Gozen ( RM42.00 ) deluxe is a must-try. The dish offers perfectly marbled slices of sirloin beef steak that can be self-grilled to desired doneness on a temperature-controlled hot stone. Savour fresh salmon sashimi with a twist of lemon on the side.

Tempted by pork belly? The Okinawa Fu Kakuni & Salmon Sashimi Gozen ( RM39.00 ) features melt-in-your-mouth layered goodness of slow-cooked stone pot Okinawan-style pork stew, a signature Kyushu dish featuring slices of tender pork belly, ginger-flavoured egg, radish and leek braised in shochu and special brown sugar.

For noodle enthusiasts, WATAMI’s Curry Udon & Fire Oyster Roll Sushi Gozen ( RM39.00 ) offers slurp-worthy thick, silky udon in flavourful spicy pork and onion based Japanese curry broth topped with strips of premium beef, a flavourful tempura-coated egg, garnished with leek and spring onions. Whet your appetite further with a side of crispy succulent deep fried oyster, rolled tightly in quality sushi rice and nori, drizzled liberally with thai chilli sauce, tartare and canyon pepper.

A lighter noodle alternative would be the Ebi Tonkotsu Ramen Gozen ( RM39.00 ). Tantalise your tastebuds with scrumptious wheat-based ramen topped with succulent fresh water prawns, a special ginger and garlic-flavoured egg, spring onions and special chilli paste in rich pork bone & shrimp broth. The dish comes with a side of delicious pan-fried gyoza stuffed with minced pork, shrimp, lotus root, shiitake mushrooms and black fungus.

Prefer hearty pork? Try the Roast Katsu & Irodori Sushi Gozen ( RM42.00 ) for generously thick cutlets of pork loin coated with a secret blend of bread crumbs and fresh and  julienned cabbage to be enjoyed with a twist of lemon and sweet and salty tonkatsu sauce. Equally tempting and satisfying is the Irodori sushi which features an assortment of premium raw fish topped sushi.

Pair your favourite Gozen set with WATAMI’s fantastic selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic mojitos, fruit liquers, wine, shochu, sake and signature green citrus teas.

WATAMI prides itself in offering a plethora of over 100 popular dishes, including those that are currently trending in Japan and a unique “Ishokuya” experience of dining delicious food in a comfortable, casual setting.
