THE EMPEROR CHINESE RESTAURANT, GRAND DORSETT HOTEL

February 23, 2012 by StrawberrY Gal

During the Chinese new Year, we had our loh sang in Grand Dorsett Hotel. We had made our Chinese New Year Lo Sang at The Emperor Chinese Restaurant which is well decorated and having the Chinese New Year Feel. Being, a typical Chinese loh sang is always a MUST during Chinese New Year. Apologize for the late review.

We had our “yee sang” wih the style of shredded Pear “Yee Sang” which is well prepared. As usual the yee sang is being served with the strips of raw fish (most commonly salmon), mixed with shredded vegetables and a variety of sauces and condiments, among other ingredients. We are too happy to have the yee sang where forget about the picture.
Taste: 4/5

Next we had the Braised Oyster with the Black Moss and Australian Butter Head Lettuce. The oyster is quite big in size and it is well braised. The oyster then is well prepard with a lot of black moss. The dish to me is kinda salty as well.
Taste : 3/5

– The big Bowl of Shark Fin Soup-

– A small bowl of it-

Next we are being served with the Braised Shark’s Fin Soup with Seafood and Egg White where the sharkfin soup is slightly different from those we had in the restaurant. The sharkfin soup is being added with some squids, and the taste is quite sweet as well. It is indeed a nice combination.
Taste: 4/5

Here comes the Roasted Crispy Chicken where the chicken is being roasted with the roasted fragrant coming up. Then it is being served with the crispy prawn crackers with it. The combination is great and the texture of the chicken is tender.
Taste: 4/5

Crispy Shelled Prawns Coated with Salted Egg and Citrus Butter Sauce where the prawns are being deep fried and served with thick salted egg and citrus butter sauce on it.
Taste : 3/5

Next we had the Steamed Sea Bass Fish with Hong Kong Style which is my favorite of all. The fish is well steamed and the soup is sweet due to the freshness of the fish. The overall texture of the fish is good and fresh. Loving it so much!
Taste: 4/5

The stir fried glutinous Rice with the Assorted Meat is quite nice too. The glutinous rice which is being served is not too sticky as well and the texture was good.

Taste: 4/5

We had the chilled sea coconut with ginseng which the taste is slightly weird to me. The sweet taste of the sea coconut with the thick ginseng smell does not really taste nice. The base of the desserts is really thick alike syrup. Not my favorite anyway.

Taste: 2/5

Our meal is completed with the Deep Fried Chinese New Year cake with Thousand Layer Pasteries Puff.

Spring & Happiness Set Menu priced at RM988.00++ per table inclusive of one complimentary bottle of red wine.
