A Refined Reunion Feast at Mini Tanker, Bloomsvale Shopping Gallery

February 12, 2026 by StrawberrY Gal

As Lunar New Year approaches, the spirit of reunion takes centre stage — a time when families gather, traditions are honoured, and meaningful meals unfold around the table. This festive season, Mini Tanker at Bloomsvale Shopping Gallery presents a thoughtfully curated Cantonese reunion menu that celebrates time-honoured flavours, comforting textures and auspicious symbolism.

Nestled within Bloomsvale Shopping Gallery, Mini Tanker has become a familiar destination for diners seeking classic Chinese comfort dishes prepared with care. For Chinese New Year, the restaurant elevates its offering with a festive set menu for five persons (RM758 nett), designed for sharing and togetherness.

The meal opens with Jellyfish Yee Sang with Pear, a refreshing and textural interpretation of the traditional prosperity toss. Crisp jellyfish provides a pleasant bite, while pear lends gentle sweetness. As diners gather for the customary “Lo Hei”, the dish sets an auspicious tone, symbolising harmony, abundance and a promising year ahead.

Warmth follows with the Double-Boiled Soft Bone Soup with Dried Scallop and Mushroom. Slowly simmered to extract depth and natural sweetness, the clear broth reflects classic Cantonese culinary philosophy — nourishing, balanced and quietly comforting.

The Crispy Fried Yellow Croaker Fish delivers a satisfying contrast of textures, with golden crisp skin encasing tender, naturally sweet flesh. It is a dish that highlights careful frying technique while preserving the integrity of the fish.

Next, the Roasted Village Chicken with Garlic offers rustic familiarity. Aromatic garlic enhances the chicken’s natural flavour, while roasting ensures succulent meat and lightly crisped skin — a timeless favourite that resonates with home-style comfort.

Festive luxury comes through in the Braised Sea Cucumber with Dried Oyster, Mushroom and Chinese Cabbage. A staple of celebratory Cantonese dining, the sea cucumber is prized for its silky texture and symbolic meaning of prosperity and longevity. The slow-braising process allows the rich sauce to permeate each ingredient, creating depth and richness without heaviness.

The banquet continues with Glutinous Rice with Waxed Meat, a celebratory staple infused with the smoky aroma of preserved meats. Each grain absorbs the savoury oils of the waxed meat, resulting in a deeply satisfying dish that anchors the meal with warmth and nostalgia.

The experience concludes on a gentle note with Steamed Chinese Rice Cake with Shredded Coconut. Soft, lightly sweet and comforting, the nian gao symbolises growth and rising fortunes — a fitting finale to a meal centred on reunion and renewal.

Thoughtfully composed and rooted in tradition, Mini Tanker’s Lunar New Year set menu offers a well-balanced celebration of familiar Cantonese flavours. Priced at RM758 nett for five persons, it is ideal for family reunions, festive gatherings and intimate celebrations within the welcoming setting of Bloomsvale Shopping Gallery.
