A Taste of Home This Ramadhan at InterContinental Kuala Lumpur

In a season often defined by abundance, InterContinental Kuala Lumpur takes a quieter, more meaningful approach. This Ramadhan, the hotel invites guests to rediscover something far more personal than indulgence — the feeling of home.

Running from 23 February to 21 March 2026, Sajian Nana Dulu & Kini is conceived not merely as a buffet, but as a culinary homage to heritage. Here, “home” is expressed through slow-simmered broths, the fragrance of bamboo-steamed dishes, and recipes that echo the kitchens of mothers and grandmothers who cooked with patience rather than spectacle.

Rather than pursuing novelty, the culinary team under the guidance of Executive Chef Rudy Junaidie has anchored the experience in memory. The dishes speak of tradition, familiarity and the kind of comfort that only well-loved recipes can offer. A live cooking demonstration by “Nana” herself adds an intimate dimension, reinforcing the narrative of preservation and shared legacy.

A Journey Through Heritage Flavours

Served at Serena Brasserie from 6.30pm to 10.30pm, the Ramadhan dinner buffet unfolds with thoughtful pacing — easing diners gently into Iftar with warmth and depth.

One of the evening’s most compelling dishes is Sup Campur Berempah “Wak Shukur”, a spice-infused broth simmered until aromatics meld seamlessly into tender cuts of meat. The soup offers complexity without heaviness — soothing yet deeply satisfying.

The Ikan Bakar Melaka, subtly influenced by Portuguese coastal traditions, presents fish grilled to gentle smokiness, its marinade balancing tang and spice against natural sweetness. A squeeze of lime and spoonful of sambal bring the flavours into vibrant focus.

For those seeking richness, Gulai Kering Tetel Kukus Buluh is a highlight. The beef, slow-cooked with heritage spices and steamed in bamboo, absorbs an earthy aroma that elevates its layered profile. Similarly, the Steamed Braised Aromatic Beef in Bamboo delivers succulent tenderness, the fragrance lingering elegantly on the palate.

Adding brightness to the spread, Ayam Panggang Sambal Belimbing pairs juicy roasted chicken with tangy belimbing sambal — a lively counterpoint that keeps each bite balanced.

A Celebratory Spread

Beyond these signature dishes, the buffet expands into a generous yet considered feast. Live and carving stations provide theatre without excess. The Afghan Whole Lamb stands centre-stage, tender and well-seasoned, while roasted orange honey glaze chicken and yellow pepper barbecue beef brisket offer depth and contrast.

Traditional accompaniments such as Lemang, Ketupat Bawang, Beef Rendang Tok, Serunding Ayam and Bubur Lambuk reinforce the theme of familiarity. 

A premium seafood display featuring fresh tiger prawns, oysters and seasonal catches elevates the offering while remaining grounded in authenticity.

The Sajian Nana Dulu & Kini buffet is priced at RM288 nett per adult and RM178 nett per child (6–12 years). Children aged five and below dine complimentary, while senior citizens aged 60 and above enjoy 50 per cent off — a gesture reflecting the spirit of family inclusion.

Raya Bersama Nana: A Festive Finale

As Ramadhan draws to a close, Raya Bersama Nana takes place on 20 and 21 March 2026, embracing a brighter and more celebratory tone.

The Afghan Whole Lamb returns alongside lively stations serving Penang Char Kuay Teow and Mee Rebus, prepared à la minute. Middle Eastern touches such as Lebanese Chicken Shawarma add dimension without overshadowing the Selera Kampung core.

  

Desserts evoke childhood nostalgia: traditional Kuih Raya, warm sweet treats, ABC, Cendol and tropical fruits complete the experience with joy and familiarity.

Pricing mirrors the Ramadhan buffet at RM288 nett per adult and RM178 nett per child.
