Celebrate the merriment of Independence Day with InterContinental Kuala Lumpur, as we present authentic Malaysian delicacies for you to feast upon, in the Merdeka Day High Tea at Serena Brasserie, this 31 August 2015, priced at RM 120 nett per adult.

Drawing inspirations from this year’s Merdeka theme of #sehatisejiwa, Chef Suhalmi Tasir, the Chef De Cuisine at all-day dining restaurant, Serena Brasserie, incorporated signature cuisines of Malay, Chinese, and Indian in the menu to create sweet harmonizing flavours synonymous of Malaysia.

The rich, tangy gravies of Malay cuisines is reflected in the selections of sambal udang petai, gulai lemak ikan masin, and ikan patin tempoyak alongside fragrant steamed jasmine rice, with flavoursome zests of Indian cuisine in the pakora chicken boxing, keerai kootu, and fried mee mamak. The sizzling broil of Chinese cuisines are also eminent , in the prevalent favourites of chee cheong fun, fried radish cake with bean sprout and chives, together with wok-fried pepper beef garnished in spring onions and ginger sauce.

Guests will also be able to enjoy the great spread of seafood on ice, with exceptional selections like fresh fine de Claire oysters, the voracious blue swimmer crab, succulent mussels, pacific prawns, blue yabbies’, and sar pak clams. The celebration is further enhanced with a carving station featuring the oven roasted Australian beef prime rib paired with the sweet course of Yorkshire pudding.

Be spoilt for choice, as the buffet spread extends to live station choices, with live tandoor stall encompassing the garlic naan with dhal tadka, chicken tandoori, mini chutney and lime wedges, together with the live station grill of malay favourites such as otak-otak, satar, ayam percik, and many others. A fine alternative of dim sum corner is also available, with the spread of steam barbeque chicken buns, siew mai (Chinese dumpling), and har gao (shrimp dumplings).

Spice up your celebration of Merdeka with us at InterContinental Kuala Lumpur. Bring your friends and family to the appetizing commemoration of Merdeka High Tea at Serena Brasserie and relish the flavour of independence with us.
