THE BEST OF JAPANESE IWASHI AND MENTAIKO DISHES AT SUSHI KING

Diners can look forward to an array of Japanese Iwashi and Mentaiko dishes such as the Premium Iwashi Nigiri, Japanese Iwashi Kabayaki Don, Mentaiko Karaage Gunkan and Mentaiko Tartar Chicken to name a few.

Some may have not heard of Japanese Iwashi or Mentaiko – what are they exactly? Japanese Iwashi is from the hikarimono or “blue-backed fish” category which are populous around Japan between summer and autumn. That is because at this time, its fat content is highest which gives it full flavour. It is rich in fatty acids like omega-3 and is commonly considered as “brain food”.

On the other hand, Mentaiko is the marinated fish roe, which is renowned for is robust flavour. Famous in Fukuoka’s food culture, Mentaiko is one of the unqiue must-try flavours of Japan.
