Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong Exhibits Original Lifestyle Masterpieces and a Vintage Afternoon Tea Experience with Rare by Oulton

December 21, 2017 by StrawberrY Gal

Famed for its legendary afternoon tea, Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong is set to redefine this classic dining experience by partnering with Rare by Oulton to offer a pop-up in the hotel lobby lounge. Surrounded by an eclectic range of antique rarities and lifestyle masterpieces procured and curated by Tim, founder of his eponymous British furniture company Timothy Oulton, guests can admire these timeless treasures as well as dine on a vintage-designed menu.

From 15 January until 11 February 2018, the lobby lounge will be home to an assortment of unique and sophisticated objects built on the principles of heritage and craftsmanship. Imported from around the world, storied pieces include the King Albert Edward VII Gold Snuff Box (price on application), Louis Vuitton Low Hearst Trunk (valued at HKD590,000) and Louis Vuitton Standing Trunk (valued at HKD475,000).

In celebration of this pop-up partnership, Executive Pastry Chef Yves Matthey has created an exclusive three-tier afternoon tea set that will be served in the lobby lounge and can only seat up to 16 guests. This antique-inspired masterpiece features a range of delicate sandwiches such as Balik Salmon and Salmon Rose with Honey Mustard to Alaskan King Crab, and Truffle Toast. On the sweet side, indulge in an assortment of Mini Sherry Trifle, Paris Brest, and Queen’s Cake, just to name a few. No afternoon tea would be complete without a selection of raisin and classic scones accompanied by Mandarin Oriental’s famed rose petal jam and Devon clotted cream.

Priced at HKD398* per person, guests can enjoy the ‘Rare by Oulton Afternoon Tea Set’ with a range of Mariage Frères teas. To elevate the experience, guests can choose to add 10 grams of Iranian Beluga caviar or a selection of champagnes, including Moët Chandon Brut Imperial, Ruinart Rosé, Ruinart Blancs de Blancs and Krug Grande Cuvée, at an additional cost.

‘Rare by Oulton Afternoon Tea Set’ is available between 2:30pm and 5pm, Mondays to Sundays, in the lobby lounge of the hotel from 15 January until 11 February 2018. Click here for the full menu with the pricing.

For more information and reservations, please call +852 2825 4000 or email [email protected]. *Prices are subject to 10% service charge.
