Samsung Previews Galaxy A57 5G and A37 5G in Malaysia

April 9, 2026 by StrawberrY Gal

Samsung Malaysia has officially previewed its latest midrange contenders, the Galaxy A57 5G and Galaxy A37 5G, ahead of their market debut. With this launch, the electronics giant is making a decisive statement: premium features — including advanced artificial intelligence and flagship-grade durability — are no longer the exclusive domain of expensive flagship devices.

The new additions to the Galaxy A series represent a significant philosophical shift for Samsung’s midrange portfolio. Rather than incremental spec bumps, the company has focused on delivering meaningful, practical innovations that directly enhance daily usability. Chief among these is the introduction of “Awesome Intelligence” — a suite of AI-powered tools that bridge the gap between affordability and cutting-edge functionality.

AI for the Everyday User

Both smartphones run on One UI 8.5, built atop Android 16, and come equipped with AI capabilities previously reserved for Samsung’s premium Galaxy S series. These include intelligent photo editing tools that can remove unwanted objects, enhance compositions, and optimize images with a single tap. Voice transcription features convert spoken words to text with notable accuracy, while enhanced search functions allow users to locate files, images, and information across their device with natural language queries.

For the Malaysian consumer who relies on their smartphone for work, communication, and content creation, these tools promise to streamline daily routines without requiring technical expertise.

Flagship-Grade Display and Durability

Where the Galaxy A57 5G and A37 5G truly distinguish themselves is in their hardware specifications. Both devices feature a 6.7-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, delivering the fluid scrolling and responsive touch experience typically associated with devices at twice the price point.

Perhaps more striking is the inclusion of IP68-rated water and dust resistance — a feature rarely seen in the midrange segment. This certification ensures the devices can withstand immersion in up to 1.5 metres of fresh water for 30 minutes, offering Malaysian users peace of mind against unexpected downpours or accidental spills.

Performance Tailored to Midrange Needs

Under the hood, the Galaxy A57 5G is powered by Samsung’s Exynos 1680 processor, while the Galaxy A37 5G runs on the Exynos 1480 chipset. Both configurations are designed to handle everyday tasks — messaging, social media, video streaming, and light gaming — with smooth efficiency.

Photography is anchored by a 50-megapixel main camera on both devices, supported by ultra-wide and macro lenses. While not positioned as a photography powerhouse, the camera system promises reliable, shareable images in good lighting conditions.

A 5,000mAh battery powers both models, with 45W fast charging support ensuring minimal downtime — a crucial feature for users with demanding, on-the-go lifestyles.

A Commitment to Longevity

In a move that underscores Samsung’s commitment to sustainability and long-term value, both the Galaxy A57 5G and A37 5G will receive up to six generations of Android OS upgrades and six years of security updates. This extended software support aligns the A series with Samsung’s flagship update policy, significantly outlasting the typical midrange device lifecycle.

For Malaysian consumers who view their smartphones as long-term investments rather than disposable gadgets, this promise of longevity adds considerable value.

Pricing and Availability

The Galaxy A57 5G is priced from RM2,249, while the Galaxy A37 5G starts at RM1,799. Samsung Malaysia is offering promotional incentives for early adopters through selected retail channels and telco partners.
