A Quiet Kind of Magic: The RuMa Kuala Lumpur’s Fairyville Christmas Tale

December 22, 2025 by StrawberrY Gal

In a city where the festive season often arrives loud and glittering, The RuMa Hotel and Residences, Kuala Lumpur offers something refreshingly different. This year, the hotel invites guests into Fairyville: The RuMa Christmas Tale — a carefully imagined festive world where Malaysian warmth, quiet luxury and storybook charm come together in subtle, meaningful ways

Fresh from receiving its One MICHELIN Key 2025, The RuMa continues to refine its identity as a place defined not by excess, but by intention. Its approach to the festive season mirrors this philosophy: thoughtful rather than theatrical, intimate rather than overwhelming. The result is a celebration that feels personal, comforting, and quietly enchanting.

Festive Dining Rooted in Familiar Comfort

At the centre of the festivities is ATAS, The RuMa’s modern Malaysian restaurant, which anchors the season with menus that feel both familiar and elevated. Drawing on local flavours and techniques, ATAS presents festive dining that resonates with a sense of home, while still offering the finesse expected of a Michelin-recognised property.

From 1 to 31 December, guests can enjoy curated festive set lunches and dinners designed for year-end gatherings and intimate celebrations. On Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, the experience expands into indulgent buffet dinners accompanied by live violin performances, adding warmth and elegance to the evening. It is festive dining that avoids extravagance, instead focusing on flavour, atmosphere and the pleasure of shared moments.

Afternoon Tea as a Cultural Pause

For those seeking a gentler rhythm amid the celebrations, The LIBRARI offers a beautifully considered afternoon tea experience. The Chapters of Celebrations Afternoon Tea, available from 22 November 2025 to 4 January 2026, unfolds slowly, inviting guests to pause and reconnect.

Served on a handcrafted Congkak stand, the afternoon tea begins with a traditional handwashing ritual — a quiet but meaningful nod to Malaysian hospitality. Guests may choose The Prelude (MYR158+ per person), which includes a mocktail and tea or coffee, or indulge in The Grand Volume, available on weekends (MYR348+ for two persons), complete with drinks and a choice of Salmon or Beef Wellington. More than just a tea service, it is an experience shaped by heritage, design and mindful hospitality.

Evenings of Playful Elegance

As daylight fades, SEVEN Lobby Bar introduces a lighter, more playful energy with its festive gin-focused cocktail menu. The Enchanted Gin Creations — Elf’s Whisper, Ginnie’s Charm and Fairy’s Touch (MYR70+ per glass) — showcase locally inspired botanicals, offering flavours that feel festive without being heavy. For those who prefer variety, The Gin Spell flight (MYR130+ for three) provides a curated tasting experience that encourages exploration and conversation.

Gifts That Carry Meaning

The RuMa extends its festive narrative beyond dining and stays with a selection of handcrafted festive gifts. Thoughtfully made using locally inspired ingredients, offerings include Christmas Puddings, Truffle Chicken Pies in two sizes, and White Chocolate Vanilla Madeleines. Beautifully presented, they make meaningful gifts for loved ones, colleagues or hosts — simple gestures imbued with care.

Festive Escapes Designed for Ease

For guests seeking a complete festive retreat, The RuMa’s seasonal stay packages weave celebration seamlessly into comfort. Fairy Christmas Nights (23–26 December 2025) includes daily breakfast for two, The Gin Spell experience at SEVEN, a choice of Christmas Eve Buffet or Christmas Day Brunch at ATAS, and festive turndown touches that enhance the sense of occasion.

The Enchanted Countdown package (30 December 2025 – 1 January 2026) elevates the year-end experience further with a New Year’s Eve Buffet, a bottle of Prosecco or non-alcoholic sparkling wine, and late check-out — allowing guests to welcome the new year without haste.

A Relaxed Farewell to the Year

To close the year on a celebratory yet unhurried note, SANTAI Pool Bar and Lounge hosts an open-air New Year’s Eve gathering under the city lights. With a live DJ, crafted cocktails, curated party packs and generous BBQ platters, the evening captures the spirit of relaxed celebration — festive without formality, joyful without excess.

A Festive Season That Lingers

In Fairyville: The RuMa Christmas Tale, the hotel offers more than a festive programme. It presents an atmosphere — one shaped by warmth, intention and a deep understanding of what makes celebrations meaningful. Whether through dining, wellness, gifting or a restful stay, The RuMa Kuala Lumpur reimagines the festive season as something quietly magical — an experience designed not to overwhelm, but to linger gently long after the holidays end.

Address: 7, Jalan Kia Peng, Kuala Lumpur, 50450 Kuala Lumpur
