Matcha Elegance at PAUL Malaysia: A Refined Fusion of East and West

September 8, 2025 by StrawberrY Gal

When it comes to timeless indulgence, few names carry as much weight as PAUL, the French bakery and patisserie with roots dating back to 1889. Known worldwide for its dedication to quality, artistry, and authenticity, PAUL Malaysia is about to enter a new chapter this September with the launch of “Matcha Elegance” bringing you with the brand’s first-ever matcha-inspired collection in the country.

This limited-time series (available from 1–30 September 2025) is more than just a menu; it’s a celebration of cultural exchange. By bringing together the smooth, aromatic richness of Morihan Uji Matcha from Kyoto and PAUL’s signature French finesse, the series creates a harmonious bridge between two culinary traditions — one rooted in Japanese precision, the other in Parisian artistry.

A Collection of Refined Creations

Every item in the Matcha Elegance series has been thoughtfully designed to reflect both sophistication and creativity, offering a refreshing interpretation of French classics with a Japanese twist:

Matcha Burnt Cheesecake – A decadent French-style cheesecake infused with earthy, velvety Uji matcha for depth and character.

Matcha Scone – A delicate, crumbly scone finished with a light glaze of matcha and white chocolate, crafted for the ultimate afternoon tea pairing.

• Matcha Raspberry Éclair – Crisp choux pastry filled with creamy matcha custard, topped with tart fresh raspberries for a perfect balance of richness and brightness.

• Matcha Tartlet – A crisp butter tart shell layered with smooth matcha pastry cream, tangy passionfruit curd, and airy matcha Chantilly — a harmony of textures and flavours.

• Matcha Latte & Matcha Strawberry Latte – Refreshing iced drinks that highlight the bold, aromatic flavour of Uji matcha, available in both classic and fruity variations.

At its heart, Matcha Elegance is not just about desserts or drinks, but about storytelling. The name itself signals refinement, balance, and artistry. “This series is a cultural bridge,” says Wan Mei, Marketing & Communications Manager at PAUL Malaysia. “It pairs the best of Kyoto’s matcha traditions with PAUL’s heritage of French baking, offering an experience that is both elevated and deeply comforting.”

This philosophy is evident in every bite — each pastry and drink embodying a dialogue between East and West, between restraint and indulgence, between timeless traditions and modern creativity. For matcha enthusiasts, it’s a chance to savour Kyoto’s finest; for French pastry lovers, it’s an opportunity to rediscover classics in an entirely new light.

Where to Experience Matcha Elegance

The series will be available for a limited time only (1–30 September 2025) at selected PAUL outlets:

1. PAUL Pavilion Bukit Bintang

2. PAUL Pavilion Damansara Heights

3. PAUL Intermark

4. PAUL Le Café KLIA (drinks & scones only)

5. PAUL Le Café SMC (drinks & scones only)
