Foodlala Thai Cuisine @ Taman Paramount

September 18, 2025 by StrawberrY Gal

Tucked away in the vibrant neighbourhood of Taman Paramount, Foodlala Thai Cuisine is a hidden gem that transports diners straight to the bustling streets and fragrant kitchens of Thailand. With a commitment to authentic recipes, fresh ingredients, and bold, balanced flavours, this eatery is fast becoming a favourite among Thai food enthusiasts.

Tucked away in the heart of the city, Foodlala Thai Cuisine promises a journey through Thailand’s vibrant culinary landscape — minus the excess salt, MSG, and pork. With a commitment to healthier cooking and the use of fresh, premium ingredients, this no-pork, no-lard eatery caters to those who crave genuine Thai flavours without compromising on wellness or dietary preferences.

We began with Mieng Kam, Thailand’s famous “one-bite wrap.” Served on fresh betel leaves, this appetiser combined roasted peanuts, dried shrimp, lime cubes, ginger, toasted coconut, bird’s eye chilli and sweet tamarind sauce. Each bite was an explosion of flavour — sweet, sour, spicy, and salty all at once — setting the tone for the feast ahead.

The Pla Ka Pong Seng Ma Naw (Thai-style steamed sea bass with lemongrass) stole the show. The fish was impeccably fresh, steamed just right to preserve its natural sweetness. The tangy lime and lemongrass dressing balanced beautifully with garlic and coriander, delivering layers of authentic Thai aroma — without relying heavily on salt or MSG.

Of course, no Thai meal is complete without Tom Yum Soup, and Foodlala’s version with prawns and mixed mushrooms lived up to its reputation. The broth was rich, spicy, and slightly creamy, with that unmistakable lemongrass-ginger-kaffir lime trifecta. Packed with plump prawns and earthy mushrooms, it was comforting, fiery, and full of depth.

Unique Bites with Homestyle Charm

A rare treat on local Thai menus, the Kai Jew Pu (Thai crab omelette made with duck eggs) was golden, crispy at the edges, and luxuriously creamy inside. The natural sweetness of the crab paired perfectly with the richness of duck eggs, making it one of the most memorable dishes of the evening.

Equally intriguing was the Dok Kha Jon Pad Khi — stir-fried cowslip creeper with egg, pickled squid, and glass noodles. Rustic, slightly funky, and floral in flavour, it showcased Foodlala’s commitment to introducing authentic, lesser-known Thai ingredients.

To round things off, the Gai Tod Nam Pla (fried chicken marinated in fish sauce) was a true crowd-pleaser. Crispy, golden, and bursting with umami richness, it was addictive enough to have us reaching for seconds.

A Fresh Take on Thai Dining

Foodlala Thai Cuisine isn’t just another Thai eatery. It’s a carefully curated dining spot where health meets authenticity. By stripping away the excess salt and MSG and avoiding pork entirely, the restaurant shines a spotlight on real ingredients and honest flavours.

Whether you’re a Thai food purist or new to the cuisine, Foodlala offers a soulful, delicious dining experience that respects both tradition and wellness.
