A Sumptuous Ramadan Feast at DoubleTree by Hilton Kuala Lumpur

March 2, 2025 by StrawberrY Gal

As the holy month of Ramadan approaches, DoubleTree by Hilton Kuala Lumpur welcomes guests to indulge in a spectacular Buka Puasa buffet at Makan Kitchen, the hotel’s renowned all-day dining restaurant. From 28 February to 30 March 2025, diners can experience an exceptional array of culinary delights, thoughtfully curated to celebrate the spirit of togetherness and tradition.

A Celebration of Tradition and Flavor

This year’s theme, “Nikmati Sajian, Eratkan Jalinan”, perfectly encapsulates the essence of Ramadan—sharing meaningful meals and strengthening connections. The buffet presents a seamless blend of heritage-rich flavors and modern culinary innovations, offering guests an unforgettable gastronomic journey.

Among the standout dishes is Chef Umar’s Marinated Whole Lamb with Kuzi Spices, a succulent masterpiece infused with a fragrant medley of spices and slow-roasted to perfection. The lamb’s rich flavors harmonize beautifully with its tender texture, creating a dish that is both indulgent and deeply satisfying.

Another highlight is the Ayam Golek Serai Kelulut Madu, where roasted chicken is glazed with kelulut madu, a honey derived from stingless bees, lending a delightful balance of sweetness and earthiness. Paired with a colorful assortment of roasted vegetables from Cameron Highlands, this dish is as visually stunning as it is flavorful.

For those craving a taste of local street food with a creative twist, the Malaysian Style Seafood Roll with Cheese Sauce is a must-try. Inspired by the beloved Roti John, this roll is packed with seafood filling and drizzled with creamy cheese sauce, adding a luxurious touch to this familiar favorite.

Seafood lovers will be drawn to Chef Zul’s Kari Udang Mamak, a vibrant and aromatic dish showcasing plump prawns enveloped in a rich, spice-laden gravy. The depth of flavors in this dish pays homage to the bold and comforting taste of traditional Malaysian mamak cuisine.

For an indulgent experience, guests can savor the Sum Sum Tulang Bakar with Roti Bengali, a delicacy featuring melt-in-your-mouth bone marrow served with fluffy Bengali toast. The combination of rich, buttery marrow with crispy toast makes this dish an irresistible treat.

A Global Feast with Regional Specialties

Beyond these signature dishes, the buffet boasts a diverse spread of international and regional cuisines. The BBQ station offers a sizzling selection of grilled meats and seafood, with chefs expertly preparing Otak-Otak, Satay, Ayam Bakar, and Ikan Bakar over an open flame, filling the air with tantalizing aromas.

Malay cuisine lovers can enjoy traditional favorites such as Lemang, Serunding Ayam & Daging, Sambal Goreng Pengantin, and Gulai Pucuk Ubi & Labu Manis. Meanwhile, the Indian kitchen serves up freshly baked naan, tandoori chicken, Dum Murgh Biryani, and Chettinad Style Prawn Masala, ensuring a rich and aromatic experience.

The Chinese section offers Wok-Fried Tiger Prawn with Sarawak Laksa Paste, Sichuan Black Vinegar Chicken, and Double Boiled Chicken Consommé with Red Dates, showcasing comforting flavors with a refined touch. Additionally, international delights such as Australian Lamb Neck Asam Pedas, Nyonya Curry Laksa, and Hummus with Couscous Salad add an eclectic mix of global flavors to the spread.

Delectable Desserts and Refreshing Beverages

No Ramadan feast is complete without a sweet ending, and DoubleTree’s dessert selection is nothing short of indulgent. Guests can relish Medjool Dates Pudding with Butterscotch, a warm and rich treat drizzled with luscious butterscotch sauce. The Teh Tarik Mousse with Sultana Compote offers a light yet flavorful take on Malaysia’s beloved tea, while the Chocolate and Peanut Butter Cake is a dream come true for dessert lovers.

Adding to the lively atmosphere, a live Jemput-Jemput station serves up crispy fritters, alongside freshly prepared Apam Balik. However, the true showstopper of the evening is the Musang King Fritters, where crispy batter gives way to an intensely aromatic durian filling, making it a highly sought-after delicacy.¨C24C

To quench guests’ thirst, a selection of refreshing beverages, including Milo Lava Float, Calamansi Asam Boi, Honeydew & Corn Float, and traditional Teh Tarik and Masala Tea, is available throughout the evening.
