A Culinary Adventure at Mogu Yakiniku: A Flavorful Experience in Mid Valley Megamall

September 14, 2024 by StrawberrY Gal

Nestled in the heart of Mid Valley Megamall, Mogu Yakiniku has quickly become a go-to destination for diners seeking a vibrant and flavorful grilled dining experience. As I walked by the restaurant, the enticing aroma of sizzling meats and the sight of a bustling crowd immediately drew me in. Curious to see if the hype was justified, I ventured inside to explore the diverse menu that promises something for every palate. Here’s a look at the culinary journey that followed.

Mix and Match Set – Black Angus Striploin (50gm) + Ribeye (50gm)

Our meal began with the Mix and Match Set, featuring perfectly cooked slices of Black Angus Striploin and Ribeye. The Striploin, with its subtle marbling, was tender and rich, while the Ribeye offered a slightly fattier and juicier bite. The accompanying white rice balanced the richness of the meats, while the refillable miso soup and salad provided a refreshing contrast. The miso soup was mellow, and the salad, light and crisp, helped cleanse the palate between bites.

Spicy Jigoku Volcano Ramen (Beef Slices)

For those who love a spicy kick, the Spicy Jigoku Volcano Ramen delivered a fiery punch. The broth, made from spicy soybean paste, was intense and packed with layers of umami. Not for the faint-hearted, this dish was incredibly satisfying for spice lovers. The tender beef slices absorbed the broth’s bold flavors while maintaining their natural juiciness, making this ramen a hearty and bold choice.

 Paitan Volcano Ramen (Grilled Chicken)

In contrast to the fiery Jigoku Ramen, the Paitan Volcano Ramen offered a rich and creamy broth made from slow-boiled chicken bones. The broth was luxuriously smooth and comforting, with a depth of flavor that lingered on the palate. The grilled chicken was well-seasoned and slightly charred, adding a smoky element to the dish. Every spoonful was a perfect combination of creamy broth and robust, smoky chicken, making it an excellent option for those who prefer a more subtle but equally rich dish.

 Salmon Iron Rice

The Salmon Iron Rice was another highlight of the meal. The salmon was perfectly seared, served over a bed of sizzling rice in an iron pan. The savory brown sauce had a slightly sweet edge that enhanced the natural freshness of the salmon without overpowering it. The salmon flaked beautifully, and the texture was just right—neither too dry nor too soft. Paired with the sizzling rice, this dish offered a delightful mix of textures and flavors.

 Chicken Katsu Iron Rice

For a comforting classic, the Chicken Katsu Iron Rice was a winning choice. The chicken katsu was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, served with a mildly spiced curry sauce that gave the dish a comforting, home-cooked feel. The curry was well-balanced between savory and slightly sweet, complementing the crispy chicken perfectly. The sizzling iron rice added warmth and aroma, rounding out this satisfying dish.

 Drinks from Yew Yew

To complement the meal, we sampled a few drinks from Yew Yew, each offering a unique flavor profile:

–  Houjicha:  Deep and earthy, the roasted flavor of Houjicha paired wonderfully with the grilled dishes, offering a smooth and refreshing finish.

–  Passion Fruit Mojito:  A refreshing burst of fruity sweetness with a slight tang, this drink was a great palate cleanser between bites.

–  Passion Yuzu Earl Grey:  A lovely blend of citrusy yuzu with the boldness of Earl Grey tea, resulting in a zesty and slightly floral note.

–  Passion Peach Earl Grey:  A sweeter option, the peach flavor mellowed the stronger Earl Grey, making this drink a fruity and aromatic treat.

Mogu Yakiniku lived up to its reputation, offering a wide variety of grilled meats, hearty ramen, and sizzling rice dishes. The food was flavorful and comforting, making it an ideal spot for casual diners looking for a satisfying meal in a bustling environment. Whether you’re in the mood for something spicy, rich, or classic, Mogu Yakiniku has something to offer. It’s definitely worth a try if you find yourself in Mid Valley Megamall and craving a hearty dining experience.
