Authentic Nyonya Delights at Just Nyonya in Manjalara

November 6, 2023 by StrawberrY Gal

Being a vivid over of Nyonya delights, we had to find out a nice place to enjoy some Nyonya delights. Located in Manjalara, Just Nyonya caught our attention where they bring authentic Peranakan delights in the comfort and yet a nice dining place that you will definitely not be disappointed.

Located on the busy streets in Manjalara, their Nyonya delights is something that captured my attention and fall in love at first sight

Chicken Pongteh (RM 27.90)

Chicken Pongteh is a classic Nyonya dish and it is one of the signature here. The combination of braised chicken, fermented soybean paste, and potatoes creates a flavorful and hearty dish. Love them so much and the most important is the meat is tender and juicy.

Jiu Hu Char

Jiu Hu Char is another Nyonya classic. It features stir-fried shredded turnips, cuttlefish, and sliced chicken. The turnip is typically stir-fried with a combination of ingredients, resulting in a sweet and savory dish. They are really appetizing and filled with flavors.

Sambal Prawn Petai

Sambal Prawn with Petai is a spicy and aromatic dish. Petai, also known as stink beans, adds a unique flavor to the dish. The prawns are stir-fried with a sambal sauce, creating a rich and spicy flavor profile.

Otak Otak

Their Otak Otak is a delightful dish with generous portions of fish meat inside, making it a treat that leads to a satisfying meal. The rich flavors and textures of this dish are sure to please your palate.

Perut Ikan

The Perut Ikan is another must-have. The dish features a symphony of ingredients carefully combined to create a harmonious blend of flavors. Traditionally, it consists of a variety of spices, herbs, and seasonings such as lemongrass, galangal, turmeric leaves, and tamarind, among others. These elements are carefully chosen and meticulously prepared, making Perut Ikan a true labor of love.

The star of the dish is often the fish, which is cooked to perfection, with the meat absorbing the intricate flavors of the Nyonya spice mix. The slow cooking process allows the spices to infuse every inch of the fish, resulting in a tender and succulent texture. Slow-cooked for hours, this flavorful dish is a true delight for your taste buds. You’ll savor every mouthful and might find it hard to resist having more.

Chendol

The Chendol here is simply outstanding. Crafted with the finest premium gula melaka, it delivers a delightful burst of aromatic sweetness that harmonizes beautifully with the finely shaved ice. The result is a refreshing and flavor-packed dessert that’s perfect for indulging, especially on a warm day.

For those who are looking for decent Nyonya Delights, Just Nyonya at Manjalara is indeed worth the visit.
