MAGGI Cooks Up 130,000 Bowls Of Nutritious ‘Bubur Lambuk’ For Frontline Heroes And Communities In Need

May 24, 2021 by StrawberrY Gal

A bowl of bubur lambuk is a must have every Ramadan and is considered a comfort food to many in Malaysia. Embracing the holy spirit of Ramadan, 130,000 bowls of the famous MAGGI® bubur lambuk were freshly cooked by MAGGI® chefs to be distributed to 135 locations throughout Malaysia including Sabah and Sarawak.

The key beneficiary groups to receive the MAGGI® bubur lambuk this year were the frontliners comprising of the Angkatan Tentera Malaysia (ATM), Badan Organisasi Mencegah Bencana Alam (Bomba), Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM), government offices and healthcare workers, all of whom have selflessly devoted their time and energy in the nation’s fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

The MAGGI® bubur lambuk were also distributed to the communities in need such as the B40 families and the residents of 52 Program Perumahan Rakyat (PPR), as well as orphanage and welfare homes.

Geetha Balakrishna, Business Executive Officer of MAGGI®, Nestlé (Malaysia) Berhad said “We acknowledge the invaluable dedication and sacrifices by our frontline heroes who had immensely contributed to the needs of the community throughout this pandemic. This is our way in thanking them while we extend our Raya cheers to them, as they continue to serve the nation during these challenging times. This year’s MAGGI® bubur lambuk initiative is significant as we had teamed up with Jasmine Food Corporation, ALIF, BHPetrogas and Kara Malaysia, in preparing this tasty and balanced iftar meal made of a mixture of chicken, spices and other fresh ingredients. Together with our valued partners, we are able to reach out to more deserving individuals, while we keep our special bubur lambuk tradition alive.”

In support of the preparation of the MAGGI® bubur lambuk, Malaysia’s leading rice producer Jasmine Food Corporation, contributed 2,500 kg of Jasmine fragrant rice meanwhile, cooking oil brand ALIF sponsored 1,250 litres of cooking oils. MAGGI® also received 140 liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders from BHPetrogas and 1,250 litres of coconut milks from Kara Malaysia, a local producer that specialises in coconut milk products.

Nurul Shawalina from KPJ Selangor Specialist Hospital said, “We are very fortunate and humbled by the support we have received from MAGGI®. This kind gesture from MAGGI® truly cheered up the staffs, all of whom have been working around the clock in the fight against COVID-19. A warm bowl of MAGGI® bubur lambuk will definitely bring contentment when breaking fast, provide us with the much needed energy and motivation to perform our duties as frontliners at our very best.”

Meanwhile, Hamdan Bin Harun, President of Rukun Tetangga (KRT) Taman Sri Rasau said, “We truly welcome this heartfelt gesture from MAGGI® with open arms, especially for the poor and those who are facing hardships due to the pandemic. Bubur lambuk is a meal born of goodwill, true to the giving spirit of Ramadan, hence this freshly prepared meal would definitely put a smile on their faces while fostering closer community ties in breaking fast together.” Residences of Pangsapuri Taman Sri Rasau are among the 130,000 recipients of MAGGI® bubur lambuk this year.

“Staying true to our brand promise, You and MAGGI® Cook the Difference, we believe that the goodness of homemade food brings positive difference into one’s life and the life of others. Despite the pandemic, for all of us at MAGGI®, one thing that remained unchanged is the spirit of giving. Commited in creating good-food moments that provides comfort to Malaysians, we are glad to continue our tradition over these past years of distributing nutritious MAGGI® bubur lambuk during the Ramadan month. We hope that through this initiative, we are able to inspire Malaysians to share the Ramadan blessing with those who serve or in need,” added Geetha.
