PLAY-DOH CELEBRATES 60 YEARS WITH A BIRTHDAY FIESTA AT THE CURVE

September 5, 2016 by StrawberrY Gal

If you grew up with PLAY-DOH and enjoyed every minute playing with it, be sure to head over to the Curve over the school holidays as PLAY-DOH will be celebrating its 60th birthday! Since its 1956 debut, the iconic yellow can has expanded into more than 80 countries across the globe with more than three billion cans of PLAY-DOH compound sold – that’s enough PLAY-DOH compound to reach to the moon and back THREE times!

Organised by Hasbro Toy (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd, the details of the event are as below:

Date : 6 – 18 September 2016
Time : 10:00am – 10:00pm
Venue : Centre Court, the Curve, Mutiara Damansara

At the Event, children from 3 – 6 years old will be able to enjoy a host of exciting activities amongst which are; the Great Bake Off, Zooventure, Go Bananas (with fruits), and Let’s Go Doh Town whereby participants are given free rein to sculpt and create their own PLAY-DOH masterpieces. To participate in these activities, participants are required to purchase a minimum of RM36 worth of PLAY-DOH products and they will be eligible to enjoy two activities of their choice. Upon purchase of a minimum RM60, participants will get to choose three activities and have a chance to sit on an electronic buggy ride around the Event atrium.

Apart from the myriad of activities happening at the Event, there are also Meet-and-Greet sessions with the Doh Doh mascot over the weekends. The main highlight of the event is the Doh-llywood Wall of Fame, where 60 of PLAY-DOH’s very own celebrities and influencers – also known as Doh-Bassadors of Creativity – leave their personalised hand prints and messages for PLAY-DOH.

According to Kelly Yip, Brand Manager for Hasbro Toy Malaysia, “The activities at the Event are aimed at encouraging imagination and creative, hands-on play for the kids. Parents should be prepared for a session filled with fun and endless possibilities. I would also like to thank our Doh-Bassadors for being a part of this Event. Each of these celebrities and influencers has been exposed to the PLAY-DOH brand at one point in their life, whether themselves or their children grew up with it. We are very honoured to have them participate in this with us as we celebrate this milestone.”

The PLAY-DOH brand has come a long way, starting off as a wallpaper cleaner and with only four colours of red, blue, yellow and white when they started, the modelling compound brand is now available in more than 50 colours! More than 3 billion cans of PLAY-DOH compound have been squished and squashed since 1956. Creating a mark in every child through the decades, PLAY-DOH compound has been known to be used in activities that promote preschool readiness, focusing around the development of fine motor skills, hand eye coordination and creativity. The PLAY-DOH brand continues to encourage creative, hands-on play with its various play patterns such as Food Role Play, Shape and Learn and PLAY-DOH Town.
