SUN YEONG WAI ROASTED DUCK RESTAURANT @ IPOH

May 18, 2016 By StrawberrY Gal - Food Review Leave a Comment

Sun Yeong Wai Roasted Duck Restaurant, one of Ipoh famous culinary specialist major in barbeque and roasted dishes. Passed down from father to son and established in Ipoh for more than twenty years, Sun Yeong Wai is now a brand closely synonymous with Roasted Ducks.

ABOUT
In 1976, Danny’s father started his roast duck business with a self-designed oven in front of his restaurant in Jalan Yau Tet Shin. His business propered and soon 2 more outlets opened in Jalan Lau Ek Ching and Jalan Yang Kalsom.

Although aged 67, Danny’s father, the patriarch of Sun Yeong Wai restaurants continues to improve his techniques for roasting ducks.

Between 1980 and 1990, Danny’s father traveled to Hong Kong annually to enhance his culinary skills in the preparation of roast ducks and seek ways to improve his business. By the 1990′s business gradually passed from father to son.

Danny, who runs the family business today, started helping at the restaurant at the tender age of ten. He started with a roast duck rice stall in Gunung Rapat and within 5 years opened his first Sun Yeong Wai Roasted Duck Restaurant.

Peipa Duck (Lower Quarter) (RM 16)
The duck is indeed well barbecued till perfection leaving you with the crispy texture. The crispy bites at the skin with the moist and juicy texture at meat itself. Every mouthful is just heavenly.

Roasted Pork 2 in 1 ( Medium) (RM 15)
The Roasted Pork is served together with the char siew. I love the char siew more than the roasted pork. The char siew comes tender and juicy and every mouthful is amazingly good and delicious.

Lettuce(RM 5)
