As expected, the queue was long at the opening of Hong Kong’s famous Michelin-starred dim sum restaurant Tim Ho Wan in Mid Valley. The dim sum in Tim Ho Wan ( 添好運) is famed for the four heavenly king as well as other in total of 25 types that is freshly made everyday.
And Tim Ho Wan is now having their two storey building where they have the public dining area at the ground floor with the maximum capacity of 100 pax and at the second floor will be the private dining area. With the private dining at the above, it can fit fit up to 48 pax, you can make a reservation, with the condition of minimum RM50 spending per person. Each private room can fit up to 10 pax, with additional charges of RM38.
This round, we sampled their new launching items which are introduced every 2 months. This round diner can sampled 3 new dishes which one of it is the Crystal Shrimp Roll with Century Egg (水晶松花虾卷) (RM 10.50). The beautifully encased crystal clear rice dumpling, with the have chunky shrimp paste topped with asparagus, fish roe and century egg drenched in abalone sauce. The savory blend of dumpling together with the fresh ingredients which is used, the taste is simply heavenly.
Alike Malaysian Style fried Yong Tau Fu, Tim Ho Wan releases their Signature Five Treasure (龙凤酿五宝) (RM12.50). The five piece delights comes with the combination of the have chunky shrimp paste topped with asparagus, fish roe and century egg drenched in abalone sauce. Nicely done with the flavourful taste with it.
Steamed Chicken with Fish Maw (北菇棉花鸡) (RM 11.50) comes to my favorite where the succulent juicy chicken slices with the fresh mushroom sitting on the thick and springy texture of the fish maw. It is indeed well done till perfection with the abalone sauce well infused into both chicken and fish maw. The flavourful taste of the item with the tender juicy meat had won my heart.
Being in Tim Ho Wan, a must to order would be their Big Four Heavenly King (四大天王) which is definitely not to be missed here. Be sure to tempt their Four Heavenly King which includes the Baked Bun with BBQ Pork (脆皮焗叉烧包), Vermicelli Roll Stuffed with Pig’s Liver (黄沙猪润肠), Pan Fried Carrot Cake (香煎萝卜糕) and Steamed Egg Cake (香滑马来糕)
The Baked Bun with BBQ Pork (脆皮焗叉烧包) (RM10.80 for 3 pieces) of course something to go here and based on their record, Tim Ho Wan sells up to 15,000 plates of this bun every month! Unlike the normal BBQ Pork Bun, the bun comes with the crumby exterior with the oozing barbecued sauce with the pork inside. Each mouthful comes sinfully good with the flavourful taste in it. Nicely done!
Vermicelli Roll Stuffed with Pig’s Liver (黄沙猪润肠) ( RM10.80) is where the vermicelli wrap the chunks of fresg pork liver. If you are a big fans of pig liver, you would be drooling for it.
Pan Fried Carrot Cake (香煎萝卜糕) ( RM9.80) is another specialty of Tim Ho Wan. The generous amount of radish added in to it bringing us the aromatic and juicy delights. Add some chilly oil for some kick for the carrot cake. Deliciously done.
The Steamed Egg Cake (香滑马来糕) ( RM7.80) is one of the traditional menu that you can look at. The fluffy, soft and springy delights come awesomely good which every mouthful give us a melts in the mouth texture when it is served warm. I love the overall texture and the mild sweetness of the delights itself.
For those who love to get some deep fried items, try the Beancurd Skin Roll with Shrimp (鲜虾腐皮卷) (RM10.80) where the items is being deep fried till perfection with the crispy bites and the taste of the pulpy prawns in it. Dipped them into the housemade spicy sauce which will give you a kick of spiciness.
Pork Rib with Black Bean Sauce (豉汁蒸肉排) ( RM8.80) is just normal. Nothing to shout about but you can get the taste of the tender and juicy pork ribs taste.
Glutinous Rice with Lotus Leaf (古法糯米鸡) (RM12.80) is different from the usual glutinous rice we had. In Tim Ho Wan, it is being stuffed with lpads of fluffy chicken chunks, mushrooms and aromatic Chinese sausages made of pork liver!
They also have the Braised Chicken Feet with Abalone Sauce (鲍汁焖凤爪) (RM9.80). The chicken feet is indeed well done with the complete moist and tender chicken meat with it
As for the desserts, we had the Tim Ho Wan Signature – Tonic Medlar and Osmanthus Cake (杞子桂花糕) (RM6.80). The dim sum comes good and well served with the golden cubes of osmanthus jelly with tonic. Awesomely done.
