DISCOVER A REFRESHED LOOK, WHERE CULINARY MAGIC HAPPENS @ LATEST RECIPE, LE MERIDIEN

February 26, 2015 by StrawberrY Gal

Following a three month transformation, Latest Recipe debuts a refreshed look. Located on level 5, the all-day dining venue showcases a theatrical dining space, where food is inspired by a passion for seasonal ingredients and the bustling of Malaysia’s rich cuisine.

The testament of “eating with your eyes” becomes apparent when you step into the restaurant. You will be instantly drawn to the vibrant atmosphere, revealing live-cooking and colourful chaffing dishes that are prepared a la minute at five distinct open kitchens by award-winning chefs.

“It was important that Latest Recipe remained faithful to its initial five-cuisine concept when renovations were being conceptualised as we began to understand, after years in operation, the preference of our demographics.  We decided to leverage the current selection by offering diners more variety to explore,” said Harvey Thompson, General Manager of Le Meridien Kuala Lumpur.

He continues to add “The sights, smells, sounds and tastes at Latest Recipe represent an energetic metropolis of locally inspired cuisine set in a modern upscale ‘hawker’ ambience.”

While you get acquainted with the scrumptious selection of Indian, Chinese, Malay, Japanese and Western cuisine, a creditable mention of additional enhancements to the buffet is worth a discovery.

When Latest Recipe was first coined more than five years ago, the idea was to highlight the Indian open kitchen, which was a first for a buffet restaurant. Staying true to its initial concept, the Indian is still highly favoured among diners with its authentic North and South Indian selection. If you cannot resist crabs drenched in spicy sauce, then Hyderabad Kakadai Crab Curry calls for a finger licking feast. Otherwise take generous helpings of Briyani, Tandoori, Lamb Masala, assorted Indian bread, Chicken Murgh and more. Vegetarians will revel in a medley of vegetarian dishes, featuring Eggplant with Masala Curry; Potato with Cumin and Masala paste; Chick Peas cooked in Creamy Curry and Lady’s Finger with tempered Tomato Curry, just to name a few.

The Chinese open kitchen expanded its selection with wok-fries; steamed, fried and baked dumplings; and a variety of assorted dim sum and noodles to fuel the appetite.

The exotic flavours of Malay cuisine are commonly created with ingredients such as lemongrass, pandan leaves, coconut milk and torch ginger among others. The regional cuisine of Kedah, Terengganu and Kelantan, are the main inspiration for the Malay open kitchen.

Freshly made Sushi, Sashimi, Teppanyaki, Tempura and Udon takes centre stage at the Japanese open kitchen, while the Western open kitchen serves a rotational carving menu of succulent PRIME Rib, Lamb Leg, Roast Chicken or Duck with side condiments, in addition to live pasta-making.

Desserts are aplenty with candy dispensers, soft yoghurt ice cream, chocolate fountain, waffles, crepe and more.

With its simplistic white tones and contemporary elements, the restaurant is concentric in design with high ceiling and a dramatic colour-stain glass as its centerpiece. The evolving mood at Latest Recipe is further accentuated with ambient lighting and floor to ceiling windows, giving a glimpse to the city views of Kuala Lumpur. Natural sunlight sweeps across the restaurant providing warm, natural lighting by day while nightfall opens up a magical evening landscape to impress all. Request a table in the welcoming open plan dining space or in one of the private dining rooms.

Latest Recipe is available for buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner daily, excluding Saturday buffet lunch. Prices are RM 108++ for lunch (Monday to Friday) and RM 118++ per person for dinner (Monday to Thursday). Buffet Dinner from Friday to Sunday is priced at              RM 128++ per person. The Sunday Roast buffet lunch is available at RM 118++ per person.

Alternatively, the restaurant’s a la carte menu presents a wide selection of starters, noodles, vegetarian, meat and low-calorie meals.

Latest Recipe, located at level 5 of Le Méridien Kuala Lumpur, has been designed to offer a new degree of style and class in an unobtrusive ambience. The restaurant is open daily from        6.00 am to 12.00 am and seats 140 persons including a private dining room for 16 persons.
