February 3, 2015 by StrawberrY Gal

Toss for prosperity , toss for health.. and go happy tossing for this year and welcome the year of Goat this year. This year, YouMiQi comes with their Chinese New Year prosperity meal which will definitely tempt you till the fullest with loads of Shunde delights.

Start tossing your prosperity with the salmon, as well as the added ginger in the platter of yee sang. The Prosperous Lou Sang (salmon) 风生水起齐捞生(RM 68.00) here comes special with a different blend of taste where it is more to the Shunde style. With loads of ginger, sliced garlic in the yee sang, it comes simply special and brings the heavy flavours of garlic in it. A healthy yee sang to go for.

Next served is the traditional pot of the Poon Choy. The huge pot of poon choy served in the huge bowl is awesomely good. I love how the poon choy is served where all the ingredients are well layered. You Mi Qi had a selection of 7 types of Poon Choi to try of from RM 188 to RM 999 where the ingredients are different. For this round, we tried the Fatt Choy Poon Choi (RM 428/10 pax) where the poon choy comes with the Braised Fa Cai with Dried Oyster, YouMiQi Chicken, Tiger Prawn, Slice Conch, Sea Cucumber, Roasted Pork, Lotus Root, Mushroom, Broccoli, and also Baby Chinese Vegetable. The poon choy we had is not much with luxury items but the poon choy is simply traditional and every mouthful is flavourful and nice. We love the Roasted Pork that comes crispy and moist and the Lotus Root where it is well infused with flavours from the sauce. Nice one.

Fried Noodle Fish with Salt & Pepper (椒盐白饭鱼) (RM 48.00) comes crispy and appetizing. It is simply goes well with beer and every mouthful of it comes pretty addicted.

The Crispy Fried Oyster (酥炸生蚝) (RM 48) is uniquely done. Breadcrumbs and deep fried till perfection. Leaving you with the moist texture of the oyster as well as the crispy bites on the curst. Nice!

One of the famous items here is the Seafood Stew Wok (海鲜焖锅) (RM 50.00). The Seafood Stew Pot comes with the fish in it and every mouthful of the soup comes creamy. For seafood lover, this is one of the item not to be missed in YouMiQi. Taste the sweetness and creamy soup and one bowl is never enough!

Lap Mei Claypot Rice (腊味煲仔饭) (RM 38.00) perhaps is a must to have during Chinese New Year. Topped with loads of ingredients on top, the Lap Mei Claypot comes extremely good. The claypot rice comes simply appetizing and moist. Nice one.

Uniquely done the Shunde Style of the Shrimp Sashimi( 虎虾拼盘)(RM 98.00) is served in two styles were the shrimp head is marinated with salt and pepper and fried till crispiness while the meat is served fresh on top of the bed of ice. Accompanied with it includes the fresh cucumber, bitter gourd as well as the black fungus. The platter is simply unique and nice. Dipped with their home made wasabi sauce for the kick!
YOUMIQI-CNY
One of the special item to go for is the Braised Yellow Sea Cucumber (酿黄肉参)(RM 180.00) . The dish comes uniquely delicious with the sea cucumber stuffed with the fish and pork meat in it. The sauce comes flavorful and every mouthful comes sinfully good with the chewy sea cucumber and moist and flavorful meat. Nicely done!
YOUMIQI-CNY
We ended our meal with some desserts of course. Not the usual desserts served in many restaurant, YouMiQi served us with the Cheese Baked Yan Tat (芝士焗紫心薯) (RM 29.00) comes with purple sweet potato alike cake and topped with the creamy cheese. The moist and soft sweet potato is as nice as it is.
If you are looking for a taste of Shunde delights, do visit YouMiQi for a delectable choice of Shunde cuisine.
