CHRISTMAS & NEW YEAR DINING AT LAFITE, SHANGRI-LA HOTEL, KUALA LUMPUR

It’s fine and elegant dining at Lafite, Shangri-La Hotel, Kuala Lumpur for Christmas and the New Year.

Chef de cuisine of Lafite, Jean-Philippe Guiard has prepared special menus for the festive celebrations. For Christmas Eve and Christmas Day dinner, revel in a sumptuous five-course at RM330++ per person or seven-course menu at RM390++ per person.

The seven-course menu begins with Truffled Foie Gras Terrine, Puy Lentil Coulis and Warm Truffle Brioche, continuing with Maine Lobster, Fresh Hokkaido Scallop and Melted Leek Lasagne, Aquitaine’s Caviar and Lobster Bisque. Oyster and Smoked Salmon Veloute, Oyster Leaf and Salmon Roe and Wagyu Beef Cheek, Cepe Mushroom and Truffle Stew, Potato Foam keep up the delicious thread of the dinner. Then it’s either the Ballotine of Duck Breast and Foie Gras, Celeriac Puree with Hazelnut Butter, Roasted Parsnip and Natural Jus for main course, or the Roasted Wild Caught Turbot and Langoustine, “Ratte” Potato and Olive Puree, Razor Clam Tartar and Reduced Bouillabaisse Juice.

At dessert time, there’s Lemon Moelleux, Sorbet and Warm Emulsion, and a Choice of Chocolate or Fruit Christmas Log from the Trolley. The five-course menu leaves out the Maine Lobster and Wagyu Beef Cheek, with the choice of main courses remaining the same as the seven-course menu.

On Christmas Day, a deluxe buffet lunch will be set up at Lafite. At RM210++ (adult), it begins at 12pm and ends at 3pm. The buffet lunch comprises terrines, salads and appetisers, with a Seafood Counter, Quiches and Vol au Vent Station, Japanese Station, Carving Station, Action Station and a Cheese Station, not to mention the wide variety of desserts on a counter.

Be delighted by Truffled Foie Gras Terrine with Dry Fruit Chutney, Oxtail Terrine with Melted Vegetables Pot au Feu, Pan Seared Tuna Loin, lemon and Avocado Puree, Marinated Scallops, Lemon Confit, Avruga Caviar and Roasted Tomato and Steamed King Crab.

Enjoy the Traditional Beef Wellington, and Escargot Vol au Vent with Garlic and Parsley Butter.

Go on to Confit Salmon in Duck Fat, Beurre Blanc Sauce and Crispy Onions, Beef Cheek Bourguignon and Roasted Rack of Lamb with Ratatouille and Thyme Juice. Desserts include the Dresden Christmas Stollen Fruit Bread with Marzipan, Sour Cherry and Cream Cheese Oreo Yule Log, Pistachio Praline Mousse and Baked Almond Tart with Fresh Fruit Tart, among others.

New Year at Lafite 
Celebrate the coming of 2015 with an eight-course dinner on New Year’s Eve at Lafite, at RM580++ per person.

It’s gastronomy at its best, starting with Foie Gras and Smoked Tuna Terrine, Puy Lentil Coulis, Truffle Brioche, then Green Apple, Ossietra Caviar, Red Onion and Blinis a la minute.Gratinated French Fine de Claire Oyster, Spinach and Lemon Zest, Roasted Hokkaido Scallop and Black Truffle Veloute, Crispy Allumette continue to wow the palate.

Grilled Lobster and Broth, Egg at 63C, Winkles, Sea Urchin and Broad Bean is followed by Wagyu Beef Tenderloin Blackmore, Panfried Foie Gras, Roasted Potatoes filled with Porcini Mushrooms and Bone Marrow, then Pan-fried Turbot, Braised Onion, Porcini, Light Potato Cream and Duck Jus.
