TIM HO WAN (添好運) @ THE BOULEVARD, MID VALLEY CITY

November 27, 2014 by StrawberrY Gal

Originated from Hong Kong, Tim Ho Wan (添好運) does not need much introduction, and the most awaiting restaurant will be greeting Malaysian fans this coming Friday (28 October 2014) at 11 am. The well know eatery in Hong Kong that defied all odds to gain an entry in the Michelin guide, has finally arrived in Malaysia. tim ho wan

Located in The Gardens, taking over the outlet of Blu Med, Tim Ho Wan brings you with the 2 storey sitting environment for you to savour your dim sum without having to hop on the plane. Locals can now savours their 4 Heavenly King delights with other dim sum choices under their chain

We started with their famed Baked Bun with the BBQ Pork (RM 10.80) ; where the marquee dish which comes with the crumbly and fluffy texture at the outside and at the inside it boost the sweet salty taste of the char siew. It is ffilled with the right amount of fats and lean meat and each plate tray comes with three bun each.

Next in line with the Big 4 Heavenly King is the Pan Fried Carrot Cake (RM9.80). The Carrot Cake comes awesomely good with the thick and super filing Its carrot cakes are well done with the finely done strips of radish which is light and melts in the mouth.

If you are in Tim Ho Wan, another highlights is their Vermicelli Roll with Pork Liver (RM 10.80). The vermicelli roll has a velvety texture while the fresh pig’s liver lends a gamey flavour. Even though it do have the acquired taste but still the taste is absolutely delightful. For those who love to try other vermicelli roll, you can try the Vermicelli Roll with BBQ Pork (RM 12.80), Vermiculite Roll with Shrimps (RM 12.80) and also Vermicelli Roll with Sweet and Sesame Sauce (RM 7.80)

The last four heaven king not to be missed is their Steamed Egg Cake. The Steamed Egg Cake (RM 7.80) or better knon as Malay Cake is being steamed till perfection before served. I love the dark, caramelized richness from the brown sugar. The tas!te comes super soft and moist and yet not too sweet. Awesomely done ! tim ho wan

Not forgetting, being in the dim sum restaurant- a must order items would be the pork dumpling with shrimps (RM 10.80). The dumpling comes good with the well minced meat with the shrimps together. The moist texture of the dumpling is good.

Aside, their prawn dumpling (RM 11.80) served with the thin velvety skin and the pulpy prawns in it. Each mouthful comes awesomely good with the bouncy with bursting flavors. Other items available in their menu includes Steamed Chicken Feet with Black Bean Sauce, Steamed Pork Dumpling with Shrimp, Wasabi Salad Prawn Dumpling (RM 10.80), Spring Roll with Egg White (RM 7.80) and many more.

Aside from dim sum, they have rice delights too. They have the Rice with beef and fried egg (RM 10.80), Chicken , Sausage & Mushroom (RM 11.80) and also Glutinous Rice with Lotus Leaf (RM 12.80). As for the desserts, the two recommended desserts are the Mango Sago Pomelo (RM 8.80) and the Tonic Medlar & Osmanthus Cake (RM 6.80). The Mango Sago Pomelo needs not much introduction as it is one of the famous desserts in Hong Kong. In Tim Ho Wan, the Mango Sago Pomelo comes pretty creamy with loads of sago, pomelo and chunks of cube mango in it. It suits my preference as it does not come too sweet.

As for the Tonic Medlar & Osmanthus Cake (RM 6.80), it is well done with the generous serving of wolfberry as well as osmanthus. The desserts was subtle, gelatinous and not overpowering sweet.

Check out Tim Ho Wan this Friday (28 Oct 2014); and try off their Hong Kong dim sum it. It
