MAGNIFICENT MOËT MOONCAKES THIS MID-AUTUMN AT LI YEN,THE RITZ-CARLTON, KUALA LUMPUR

August 29, 2013 by StrawberrY Gal

This year, Master Chef Tan and his talented culinary team offer an exquisite range of mooncakes available from Li Yen restaurant at The Ritz-Carlton, Kuala Lumpur.

Mooncakes are a Chinese delicacy traditionally consumed during the Mid-Autumn Festival that is observed among the Chinese community each year on the fifteenth day of the eighth lunar month. The star of the show is the Moët & Chandon Mini Ping Pei mooncakes, consisting of smooth lotus paste blended with the champagne for which this mooncake is named, and then wrapped in a layer of silken glutinous rice flour. This modern classic is available in two flavours: classic and rosè.

Meanwhile mooncake purists will love the White Lotus Paste mooncakes, available either plain or in single and double salted egg yolk variations. The smooth, lightly sweetened white lotus paste juxtaposes against the slightly crumbly texture of the egg yolk centre. Li Yen is also offering Lotus Paste, Red Bean Paste, “Kam Tui” and many other flavours this year.

Mooncakes at Li Yen will be available throughout the Mid-Autumn Festival starting from August 1st until September 19th 2013. Prices start from MYR15.50 each, plus prevailing government tax and also come in boxes of four and eight, ideal for gifts and special occasions. Guests may call The Ritz-Carlton, Kuala Lumpur at (603) 2142 8000 to make a reservation or place an order at Li Yen. Li Yen, which translates to “beautiful garden” in Chinese, is open daily for lunch and dinner, serving signature non-halal Cantonese cuisine and well-loved dishes for the whole family. The classical and modern artistry that Li Yen houses is set against a backdrop of warm colours and dark wood finishing. Lunch is served from 12.00pm till 2.30pm from Monday to Saturday and 10.30am to 2.30pm on Sundays and public holidays. Dinner is available from 6.30pm until 10.30pm daily.
