This Christmas, Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur invites guests into a world where festive tradition meets culinary excellence, and celebration unfolds with elegance and restraint. For those seeking a complete festive escape, the hotel introduces the Festive Wonder Stay Package, available for bookings of a minimum two-night stay between 1 December 2025 and 11 January 2026. The package also includes a photo opportunity at Santa’s Workshop, along with a choice of festive activity — Gingerbread Cookie Making, Festive Ice Skating, or a complimentary drink at Mesa on 51. It is a holistic approach to the season, designed to create meaningful memories for guests of all ages.

Ahead of the holidays, Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur offers a preview of its highly anticipated Christmas Eve Dinner and Christmas Day Lunch buffets — a lavish affair that will span three venues: Mosaic, Lounge on the Park and the Diamond Ballroom. The scale alone positions this yuletide feast as one of the most extensive in the city.

Guided by Executive Chef Fabio Brambilla, the festive menu celebrates premium ingredients and global influences, executed with precision and flair.

The Art of the Grill: Beef Tomahawk

Among the centrepieces is the impressive Beef Tomahawk, grilled over open flames using the Japanese robata technique. This method seals in the natural juices while creating a beautifully charred crust. Finished with a sweet and savoury glaze, the steak reveals a tender, rosy centre when sliced — succulent, richly marbled and undeniably theatrical.

The dish is accompanied by a selection of refined condiments, including mushroom sauce, Dijon and Pommery mustard, chimichurri and horseradish cream, alongside seasonal sides such as roasted sweet potatoes, carrots, Brussels sprouts, asparagus and vine tomatoes.

Oceanic Delights and Global Inspirations

Seafood lovers will find much to admire at the chilled seafood display, where an ice sculpture showcases slipper lobsters, mud crabs, prawns, scallops and blue mussels. Highlights include fresh oysters sourced from Venice and France, shucked to order and served with a selection of classic accompaniments.

Local heritage also finds a proud place in the festive spread. The hotel’s signature Nyonya Laksa — a beloved staple — features a thick, aromatic curry rich with traditional spices and generously topped with udang galah (freshwater prawns). A spoonful of dried shrimp chilli adds depth and heat for those who prefer a bolder profile.

Japanese cuisine is equally well represented, with chefs slicing sashimi directly from whole tuna and presenting a refined selection of sushi and sashimi. Attention to detail is evident in the quality of the vinegared rice and the balance of condiments, ensuring both flavour and visual appeal.

The cold kitchen offers a series of elegant hors d’oeuvres designed to intrigue without overwhelming. Standouts include Boston Lobster Salad with lentils, orange wedges, edamame and frisée, Seared Tuna Tiradito with micro herbs, Grilled Spring Vegetables Terrine, and Green Asparagus and Mozzarella Salad — dishes that emphasise freshness, texture and restraint.

No festive celebration at Mandarin Oriental would be complete without an extraordinary dessert presentation. Led by Executive Pastry Chef Saban Cavlak, the pastry section transforms into a winter wonderland of indulgence.

Guests can expect a dazzling selection including Black Forest Chocolate Logs, Strawberry and Coconut Short Cake, Hazelnut Chocolate Cake, Mont Blanc, Pistachio Raspberry Cake, Festive Fruit Tarts, and an impressive Croquembouche Tower. Traditional treats such as Panettone, Stollen, Pandoro, and a charming assortment of gingerbread creations, cookies and festive confections complete the experience — a fitting finale to an abundant feast.
