KODAWARI MENYA UDON & TEMPURA @ 1MONT KIARA

September 25, 2014 by StrawberrY Gal

1 Mont Kiara had recently undergo a wide renovation and being that, now they have H&M, Sushi Zanmai and Pasta Zanmai. The new restaurant- Kodawari Menya which is located in 1 Mont Kiara is Kodawari Menya Udon brings you with the different concept of enjoying udon. Located at the 1st floor of the mall itself, it is easily spotted as it is located near the Sushi Zanmai outlet.

Kodawari Menya is different from many udon outlet where they are something of the self-service eatery that comes with instructions for those who love to give a try. First, check out the menu and choose the noodles you love to try where they have chocies of niku, bukkake, zaru, kamaage, kake, kitsune & kare udon. The price range is around RM10.90-RM14.90 for a small serving or RM12.90-RM16.90 for more substantial portions.

Then, you will move to the add on counter where you can order a variety choices of tempura and last but not least a counter that you can add on skewers of boiled items like eggs, radish, seaweed and more. Finally, purchase your drinks and make your payment.

We started with the Niku Udon (RM 16.90 (R) / RM 14.90 (S))where the humble udon together with the spices and hearty soup includes the thinly sliced beef in it. The savory soup combines with the udon is simply awesome where every btes of the beef comes tender and juicy.

As for the Zaru Udon (RM 12.90 (R) / RM 10.90 (S)) it is served cold where it is usually accompanied together with the hot savory dipping sauce, usually a strong mixture of dashi, mirin, and shoyu. Eaten with wasabi or grated ginger. The taste is awesome and it made a nice match with the chilled udon.

For those who prefer a more flavourful blend of brooth, try the Kari udon which brings you a savory blend of taste where the brooth is thick and indulging with the curry flavors in it. This is one of my favorite here as I love the fragrance of the curry.

Bukkake Udon Noodles (RM 12.90 (R) / RM 10.90 (S)) is a traditional dish where chilled dashi sauce is poured over cold udon noodles and toppings. Though; it looks plain, the taste is just awesome and this is one of my favorite here too.

Kama Age Udon (RM 12.90 (R) / RM 10.90 (S)) comes straight from the boiler and doesn’t go through a cooling process making the noodles more texturized all around. It is served with a hot dipping sauce (Bukkake sauce) which is more flavorful than the Kake broth. It is not much our favorite for this as its flavours is not really one of mine love ones.

– Tempuras-

-Japanese Fried Chicken-
If you love to grab some add-ons to your meal; you can order some tempura of your choices to accompanied with the slurpy noodles. This includes the crispy tempura such as eggplant, potato, sweet potato, okra , shitake mushroom and more.

They also have other sides to go with the udon.

Do make your way to Kodawari Menya for a great udon!
