The St. Regis Langkawi Marks a Decade of Refined Island Luxury

May 26, 2026 by StrawberrY Gal

The St. Regis Langkawi is celebrating a defining milestone this year as the resort marks its 10th anniversary with “A Decade of Exquisite Moments,” an elegant tribute to ten years of bespoke service, refined hospitality and destination-led luxury on one of Malaysia’s most picturesque islands.

Taking place on 29 May 2026, the anniversary celebration signals more than a commemorative occasion. It also ushers in a new chapter for the resort’s acclaimed culinary identity, particularly at its award-winning signature restaurant, Kayuputi, underscoring the property’s continued evolution within the region’s luxury hospitality landscape.

Set against the backdrop of Langkawi’s pristine shoreline, the celebration will welcome renowned French winemaker Pascal Jolivet alongside invited guests, partners, media and tastemakers for an evening shaped by the glamour, ritual and sophistication synonymous with the St. Regis name. The programme will feature an exclusive seven-course dining experience at Kayuputi paired with Pascal Jolivet wines, alongside signature St. Regis rituals, cultural performances and a beachfront fireworks display overlooking the Andaman Sea.

A decade of distinction

Since opening in 2016, The St. Regis Langkawi has established itself as one of Malaysia’s most recognisable luxury resorts, blending the heritage of the St. Regis brand with the natural beauty and cultural richness of Langkawi. With 85 rooms and suites as well as four overwater villas, the resort has built its reputation on personalised service, elevated gastronomy and a strong sense of place.

Over the past decade, the property has earned a range of international accolades, including recognition from the Tatler Best in Class Awards, DestinAsian Readers’ Choice Awards, Travel + Leisure Asia Pacific Luxury Awards, Trip.com Asia 100, as well as the ASEAN Spa Service Standard. These honours reflect the resort’s positioning not simply as a luxury retreat, but as a destination that has consistently delivered on service, design and guest experience.

Its journey has also been marked by a widening lifestyle identity. Collaborations with international resort wear label Vilebrequin have reinforced its aspirational appeal, while sustainability-focused efforts such as its Green Hotel Certification from the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia and partnership with BoomGrow reflect an increasing emphasis on thoughtful luxury and responsible sourcing.

Kayuputi enters a new phase

Central to the anniversary celebration is the evolving story of Kayuputi, long regarded as one of Langkawi’s most distinguished dining destinations. The 10th anniversary signals a renewed culinary direction for the restaurant under the leadership of Chef de Cuisine Marco Portal, who is introducing a refreshed philosophy rooted in contemporary refinement and destination-inspired storytelling.

This shift reflects a growing ambition not only to strengthen Kayuputi’s standing, but also to contribute to Langkawi’s emergence as a destination for sophisticated dining experiences.

In recent years, Kayuputi has built a strong gastronomic reputation through its Gastronomy Series, which has featured collaborations with respected culinary names including HAOMA Bangkok, Lerouy Singapore, and ESA Jakarta. These partnerships have positioned the restaurant as more than just a resort dining venue, but as a platform for cross-border culinary dialogue and elevated epicurean experiences.

The anniversary wine pairing dinner with Pascal Jolivet further reinforces that intent. It is both a celebration of the resort’s legacy and a statement of where it is heading next: towards a more defined role within the regional luxury dining conversation.

Looking ahead with renewed ambition

For The St. Regis Langkawi, the 10-year mark is as much about reflection as it is about reinvention. The resort’s continued focus on destination dining, immersive luxury hospitality and culturally rooted guest experiences suggests a property intent on staying relevant to the expectations of the modern luxury traveller.

Derek Gomez, General Manager of The St. Regis Langkawi, described the milestone as both a celebration of past achievements and a springboard for the future.

“For the past decade, The St. Regis Langkawi has had the privilege of creating meaningful moments for travellers from around the world, while becoming part of Langkawi’s evolving luxury hospitality story,” he said. “As we celebrate this milestone, we also look ahead with renewed passion — continuing to elevate our culinary experiences, embrace thoughtful innovation, and create unforgettable moments for modern luxury travellers.”

That forward-looking spirit appears to define the resort’s next phase. As luxury travellers increasingly seek experiences that combine personalisation, storytelling and a strong sense of destination, The St. Regis Langkawi seems poised to respond with the same elegance that has shaped its first decade.

A milestone shaped by elegance

In many ways, the anniversary is a fitting reflection of what The St. Regis Langkawi has come to represent: a blend of timeless rituals, contemporary luxury and island serenity. It is a celebration not only of longevity, but of consistency — of maintaining a high standard while continuing to evolve.

As the resort enters its next decade, it does so with a renewed culinary vision, a deepened commitment to thoughtful hospitality and a clear intention to remain at the forefront of Langkawi’s luxury travel story.
