Marriott International Inc. today announced the signing of an agreement with WB Hotel Properties Sdn. Bhd. by WEBEST Group to introduce Moxy Hotels to Melaka. Located within Melaka’s historic city center, Moxy Melaka is expected to bring the brand’s playful and social hospitality concept to one of Malaysia’s most visited cultural destinations. The signing reflects Marriott’s continued focus on conversion opportunities and growth momentum in Malaysia, as well as a shared commitment with WB Hotel Properties Sdn. Bhd. by WEBEST Group to deliver dynamic, experience-driven hospitality in key urban leisure markets.
Located in Bandar Hilir within the Melaka Historic City, the property is planned to feature 153-keys with a prime address directly opposite Dataran Pahlawan Melaka Megamall and adjacent to Mahkota Parade, surrounded by a lively mix of heritage landmarks and contemporary attractions, including Jonker Street Night Market, A Famosa, St. Paul’s Hill, Dutch Square, and the Melaka River corridor — making it the perfect playground for Moxy.
“The signing of Moxy Melaka reflects Marriott International’s continued expansion of its lifestyle portfolio in Malaysia. As demand grows for experience-led hospitality, Moxy offers a differentiated proposition that resonates with today’s travelers. We are pleased to work with WB Hotel Properties Sdn. Bhd. by WEBEST Group to introduce the brand to Melaka, a destination with strong tourism appeal and growing travel demand,” said Andree Susilo, Vice President, Hotel Development – Asia Pacific excluding China, Marriott International.
The hotel is expected to feature social public spaces, reflecting Moxy’s vibrant and experience-driven approach to hospitality. Guestrooms will be smartly designed and efficiently styled, delivering comfort and functionality with a spirited edge.
Lydia Lim, Director of WEBEST Group, added, “We are delighted to collaborate with Marriott International to bring Moxy Hotels to Melaka. This signing reflects our shared commitment to introducing a hospitality offering that complements the city’s evolving tourism landscape while appealing to both domestic and international travelers. We believe Moxy Melaka will bring a distinct new energy to the destination.”
Expected to open in early 2027 following a strategic conversion of The Explorer Hotel, Moxy Melaka is expected to further strengthen Melaka’s hospitality landscape while meeting the growing demand for lifestyle-driven stays in culturally rich cities.
