Seloka Ramadan at Thyme: A Village Soul Reimagined in the Heart of Kuala Lumpur

February 20, 2026 by StrawberrY Gal

Beginning 18 February 2026, Thyme at PARKROYAL COLLECTION Kuala Lumpur unveils its signature Seloka Ramadan Buffet Dinner, an immersive culinary journey that pays homage to the nostalgic flavours of the kampung kitchen while celebrating the shared rhythms of city life.

Set within a biophilic, garden-inspired environment, Seloka Ramadan brings together heritage recipes, live culinary theatre, and nature-led design, offering a dining experience that feels both grounded in tradition and elevated by contemporary refinement. It is a place where memories of village cooking are lovingly revived — not as replicas, but as thoughtful interpretations suited for the modern table.

A Sensory Journey Through Live Gastronomic Theatres

Spanning both indoor and outdoor spaces, the Seloka Ramadan buffet unfolds as a series of interactive gastronomic theatres, where aromas, textures, and sounds shape the experience as much as taste.

Among the opening highlights is the Kerabu Udang Galah, a refreshing appetiser of fresh river prawns tossed with crisp vegetables. Finished with a tangy, spicy dressing and garnished with sesame seeds and groundnuts, the dish strikes a harmonious balance of sweetness, acidity, and heat.

At the Sup Aneka Berempah station, traditional broths take centre stage. The robust gearbox and beef tongue soups are slow-simmered and deeply aromatic, with diners invited to personalise their bowls using selections such as lamb ribs, beef ribs, strips, and oxtail — a comforting ritual that echoes home-style hospitality.

Another standout is the Bubur Lambuk Pantai Timur, a lesser-seen East Coast variation prized for its rich, textured consistency. Unlike the smoother versions common in the central region, this rendition offers depth and heartiness, making it a must-try for those seeking authenticity.

Charcoal, Smoke and Street-Side Comfort

The atmosphere intensifies at the Live BBQ Stall, where the aroma of charcoal fills the air. Here, Ikan Bakar Parameswara and traditional satay are grilled to order, delivering smoky flavours that evoke open-air kampung feasts.

For lovers of timeless street snacks, the Cucur-Cucur Goreng station offers banana, sweet potato, and cempedak fritters alongside savoury favourites such as lekor — an afternoon-tea-style spread that celebrates the comforting simplicity of Malaysian street food.

Nearby, Apam Balik Pak Din is prepared fresh, with each fluffy pancake customised using classic fillings such as sweet corn, crushed peanuts, or chocolate — a nostalgic treat that bridges generations.

From Rice, Noodles, and Roasts to Global Influences

The buffet’s depth extends indoors with a rich selection of comfort classics. The Murtabak & Roti Stall showcases skilful flipping of roti canai, roti boom, and savoury murtabak, served with slow-simmered gravies.

At the Noodle Station, diners choose between Asam Laksa and the crowd-favourite Signature Nyonya Laksa, noted for its exceptional depth and authentic balance. The Chicken Rice Stall offers both roasted and steamed chicken paired with fragrant rice and house-made chilli.

Roast highlights include the celebrated Kambing Golek, roasted until golden and tender, served with aromatic Bukhari Rice, as well as OP Ribs Bakar, slow-roasted for smoky richness and paired with colourful kerabu rice.

A Culinary Map of Malaysia — and Beyond

Seloka Ramadan further distinguishes itself with a comprehensive showcase of regional and international flavours.

At the Malaysian Specialty section, traditional dishes such as Rendang Tok, Ayam Rendang Minang, Kari Ikan, Lamb Pasamah, Sambal Petai Udang Galah, Percik Sotong Sumbat, and Gulai Nangka Daging Tetel reflect the diversity of local heritage cooking.

The Chinese Legacy station presents comforting classics including Chili Crab with Mantou, Steamed Fish with Soy Sauce, and Kung Po Chicken, while the Indian Flavours section features hearty dishes such as Mutton Rogan Josh, Murgh Methi, Fish Moili, and Subz Pulao.

Western favourites provide contrast with offerings like Beef Stew and Seabass with Creamy Lemon Dill, while the Seafood on Ice counter impresses with its selection of chilled seafood — particularly the freshly shucked oysters, prized for their clean, briny sweetness. A Japanese section completes the global journey with curated sushi and sashimi.

A Sweet Ending — and the King of Fruits

Dessert at Seloka Ramadan is both generous and nostalgic. Guests can indulge in traditional kuih muih Melayu, Raya biscuits, French pastries, cakes, warm bubur selections, and a customisable bowl of ABC. Offerings such as Bubur Kacang Hijau, Bubur Jagung, and Bubur Kacang Merah bring comfort and familiarity to the final course.

Durian lovers are in for a treat with the nightly COLLECTION Durian Feast, available from 8:30pm to 10:00pm, offering an unapologetically bold celebration of the King of Fruits.
