A Taste of the Tropics Arrives in Bandar Utama

January 2, 2026 by StrawberrY Gal

Bandar Utama’s dining landscape continues to evolve with the opening of Elephant Resort, a new tropical-themed café located at 1 Utama Shopping Centre. Designed to evoke the relaxed mood of a holiday retreat, the café offers a refreshing contrast to the typically fast-paced atmosphere of a shopping mall, inviting diners to slow down and enjoy a more leisurely experience.

The café’s interior embraces light, airy elements that reflect its tropical inspiration. Bright colours and relaxed design details contribute to an atmosphere that feels cheerful and unhurried, making Elephant Resort an appealing stop for casual meals, coffee breaks, or mid-shopping respite.

The menu centres on familiar Western-style café fare, executed with an emphasis on approachability rather than complexity. One of the more substantial offerings is the Fish and Chips, featuring golden-battered fish paired with crisp fries. The dish delivers comfort and familiarity, appealing to diners looking for a satisfying meal that does not stray far from well-loved classics.

For those seeking something lighter yet flavourful, the Aglio Olio with prawns presents a straightforward combination of garlic, olive oil, and pasta, enhanced by the addition of prawns. The dish is aromatic without being heavy, making it a suitable option for lunch or an early dinner.

Brunch selections include the Bagel Egg Benedict, a twist on the traditional eggs Benedict that replaces the usual English muffin with a bagel. The result is a heartier texture that pairs well with the richness of the eggs and sauce, offering a filling option for diners seeking a more substantial brunch dish.

While Elephant Resort does not aim to redefine café cuisine, its strength lies in the overall experience it offers. By combining a relaxed, tropical-inspired setting with familiar, crowd-pleasing dishes, the café positions itself as a casual retreat within one of the country’s busiest shopping destinations.

As more cafés compete for attention in urban centres, Elephant Resort distinguishes itself through atmosphere rather than novelty, providing diners with a brief escape that feels both accessible and welcoming.
