A Grand Yuletide Affair at Pavilion Hotel Kuala Lumpur

December 6, 2025 by StrawberrY Gal

As the year draws to a close, Pavilion Hotel Kuala Lumpur, Managed by Banyan Tree, ushers in the festive season with a refined celebration of Christmas marked by culinary artistry, warmth, and understated luxury. Set against the lush surroundings of The Courtyard, the hotel presents a festive dining experience that balances indulgence with sophistication, offering guests a memorable way to gather and celebrate.
At the centre of the hotel’s year-end celebrations is a lavish Christmas buffet curated to evoke the comforts of a traditional holiday feast, while elevating it through fine-dining sensibilities. Overlooking one of Kuala Lumpur’s most scenic urban courtyards, the setting provides a tranquil yet celebratory backdrop rarely found in the heart of the city.

A Festive Menu with Fine-Dining Precision

The festive spread is led by Chef de Cuisine Baranitharan, whose culinary vision transforms the conventional buffet into an elegant gastronomic journey. With a keen focus on premium ingredients, technique, and presentation, the menu reflects a deliberate move away from excess towards refinement — where each dish is crafted with intention and balance.
Among the most notable highlights is the King Crab, presented in its purest form to allow its natural sweetness and delicate texture to take centre stage. Impressive in size and pristine in quality, it stands as the undisputed centrepiece of the buffet.
Equally compelling is the hotel’s Truffle Mania, an indulgence rarely encountered in a buffet setting. Fresh truffles are shaved upon request, ensuring their volatile aromas are preserved at their peak. Diners may pair them with standout dishes such as roast chicken stuffed with foie gras or freshly baked pizzas, creating a luxurious interplay of flavour and fragrance.

From Classic Roasts to Global Delicacies

The carving station offers an array of festive roasts prepared with classic accompaniments including Yorkshire puddings, giblet gravy, and Pommery mustard. Highlights include slow-roasted beef ribs with rosemary crumble, honey-glazed chicken ham infused with warm spices, and a refined salmon Wellington.
Beyond the roasts, the buffet showcases a diverse selection of hot dishes spanning international and local cuisines. From pan-seared seabass with caviar sauce and braised beef with truffle mashed potato to Malaysian favourites such as Black Angus beef cheek masak rose and itik salai masak lemak cili api, the menu reflects Pavilion Hotel Kuala Lumpur’s commitment to global flavours executed with finesse.

Seafood, Live Stations and Culinary Theatre

Seafood enthusiasts will appreciate the chilled seafood counter featuring flower crabs, snow crabs, yabbies, prawns, clams, and conchs, alongside a refined assortment of cold cuts, cheeses, and composed salads.
The festive experience extends outdoors to the al fresco courtyard, where live stations add a sense of theatre to the evening. A whole lamb is slow-roasted over an open fire pit, while chefs prepare satay, grilled seafood, fresh pasta, miniature burgers, and Penang-style char kuey teow à la minute. Guests may even select live tiger prawns directly from the tank for immediate preparation.

Thoughtful Touches for All Ages

Comforting soups, including roast chestnut soup and mutton broth, provide a warming interlude, while a dedicated Kids’ Corner ensures younger diners are equally catered for with familiar favourites.
The experience culminates at the Dessert Pavilion, where an extensive selection of festive pastries and confections awaits. Traditional Christmas offerings such as yule logs, panettones, stollen, and gingerbread sit alongside modern creations including blueberry Mont Blanc, chocolate pralines, and homemade ice creams, offering a fittingly indulgent conclusion to the meal.

Celebrating the Season

Throughout the festive period, Pavilion Hotel Kuala Lumpur presents both brunch and dinner buffets on selected dates. On Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, live carolers enhance the ambience, lending a nostalgic charm to the celebrations. Guests may also opt for a curated wine pairing to accompany their meal, while festive roasts are available for takeaway for those who prefer to celebrate at home.
With its refined setting, thoughtfully curated menu, and attention to detail, Pavilion Hotel Kuala Lumpur delivers a Christmas dining experience that is both luxurious and welcoming — a celebration of the season marked by elegance, flavour, and togetherness.
